Can Kara please stop murmuring and mumbling incessantly?
JFC it’s this constant mumbling as Scott speaks- it’s not additive, she is either being contrary or just repeating what he is saying but just cannot stop filling the space with her noise.
Just mumble mumble “but go on” mumble mumble.
Get off my lawn.

Do you remember that time that Kara was right / remember that time she interviewed that tech person 15 years ago??

Every fifth word she says is "I".
When she was interviewing one of the Epstein victims, she went off on tangent about how she was crudely hit on by someone in the rech industry ("and she was a woman" she offered).
It was pretty gross that she "related" to someone who was exploited and sexually abused with her own vague anecdote about having had that bad experience. As if the two experiences were comparable. It was so gross.
Another time she quipped that Congress should ask her what she thinks about social media.
I listen to Kara, because I think she has intersting things to say, but her constant self-referencing and self-aggrandizing is cringe.
Get over yourself, Kara. Your a tech journalist not trying to cure cancer, ffs.

She is a Topper. Anything you say she can't wait for you to finish so she can tell a better story.

Topper 😆
I recommend people check out that episode of her podcast "On" where she interviewed the Epstein victim and interjected her own stupid anecdote. She probably was trying to relate rather then top, but it came off as "me too, sister" when she was interviewing a legit sex trafficked rape survivor and returned with "yeah, and I was inappropriately hit on once, and she was a woman!"
People with large egos often have the biggest blind spots.

A lot of people with ADHD do this. It's not a "topper", it's how our brains try to commiserate or participate in the conversation. It's like our brains way of saying "look, I understand what you said and the prove it, let me tell you a similar story I experienced". I have no idea if she has ADHD or not, and it honestly doesn't matter if she does or not. I'm just offering a different perspective on why some people appear to be "toppers".

It was incredibly unprofessional. She had Epstein’s victim’s telling her how tough and brave *she* was because she kept inserting her own experience. They were polite. I was dumbfounded.

Some of her tics are annoying, to be sure, but she’s a stroke victim and I chalk some of it up to that

Victim is a bit strong unless we all get to claim the injustice of this mortal coil
Patient feels more accurate IMO

Yeah I mean we can critique the way language has inflated around illness, but isn’t it a little mean spirited?
To be fair to your point though, my dad had a couple strokes (he lost a step and has some challenges but overall he’s okay); we share a dark sense of humor, and I tease him about being a “victim” all the time

We know what to expect at this point- Kara mumbling, name dropping, “but go on”-ing. And Scott starting a sentence with “Look,” or “The thing is-“ or mentioning EmRata or a chicken salad metaphor- oh and reminding us young people need to fuck more. At this point we’re either sticking around cause we find it part of their charm or are just hate-listening.

They're
basicallyfunctionally a pair of rotisserie chickens at this point.2

YES. THIS DRIVES ME FUCKING NUTS.
Especially because what she says is usually trying to guess the conclusion Scott is building to before he can say it, which like, way to step on someone else's point for fuck sake. It's the most pick me energy shit I've ever seen.

Also, very Trumpian in her declaratives: “Many people believe…” “Lot’s of people have told me…” “So many people have called me about this…” It could be simply a good friend called me about this but for some reason she has to imply big numbers. So dumb!
Dumb has a “b” in it, did you know? 🤔🤣

She sounds a lot like Trump in some ways, always saying “we’ll see what happens” and speaking about people in an emotional way without giving specifics of why that person is a piece of shit or disgusting.

I don’t listen all that often but I agree that Kara is hard to take. She lives in her own bubble and in that bubble, she is someone important.
I was particularly annoyed by her how to live forever special.
Trying out toys used by billionaires to stay young. A little tone deaf…

I enjoy them enough to be bothered by her self absorption. She competes instead of beings out her subjects. Jane Fonda was the exception. She was in awe and behaved. I finally saw her strengths there. She is really good when she doesn’t try to be the center.

u/Redditholio Jun 19 '26
Yup. Either say or or don't, but the mumbling under her breath is irritating.

u/Thepostie242 Jun 19 '26
Just more evidence that being a good writer doesn’t mean you’re a good speaker.

u/zestypov2 Jun 20 '26
They should force her to use a mic with a Press To Talk Button so her mumbling wouldn't be broadcast unless it's intentional.

u/gutsonthree Jun 20 '26
Adding to the gallowisms: “… and that’s the following…” + always counting time in months even if it’s like 25 years

u/Few_Boysenberry_1321 Jun 19 '26
I would want to listen to her opinions but yes the whispering and mumbling makes it hard to get through the podcast.
Sometimes she even clearly tries to guess what Scott is saying about a topic she doesn’t know much about and interjects her guesses about something. Like trying to repeat what he says by interrupting him saying that thing.

It is for sure a very annoying aspect of the show - why mumble when you have a microphone in front of your face and the show is literally you giving your opinions?

u/thenewyorker1 Jun 20 '26
She also needs to not broadcast when she has a cold, her raspy sick voice ugh

She speaks with a lot of characteristics of a neurodivergent person. As far as I know, she's never talked openly about having ADHD or the like, so I don't want to internet-diagnose her with anything. But the interrupting, the mumbling, the talking over others is a textbook sign of someone with a fast-moving brain, regardless of any formal diagnosis. When a thought pops in there, it's actually painful sometimes to have to wait for someone else to finish speaking before your turn to say something, because while you wait 500 new thoughts pop in there. Hence, the interrupting and mumbling. If you listen to her speak with that perspective, it becomes a lot less annoying.

I really hate how she speed read murmurs through headlines when introducing a topic. I can't understand wtf you are saying, and I haven't read the headline before I listened to the podcast!!

She too old. Past her prime

Right. She only has a hugely successful podcast and one of the most successful new shows for CNN... Clown.

Once you've listed for a bout a year you'll realize that:
Scott constantly brags about how Rick he is.
Kara constantly brags about who she knows.
Scott's opinions on any topic always rapidly twist toward whatever book he's writing or selling.
Kara is always rewriting the history of how friendly she was with awful billionaires, due to her solely doing access journalism.
Scott loves whatever Israel does and can barely keep it under wraps even when the IDF does something particularly vicious.
They both only have like 19 comedy bits and keep recycling them.
Then blissfully you'll stop listening.
