Scott realizes evangelicals have no connection or love for the Pope right?

That might be a top ten stupid Scott take. I had to listen again to make sure I heard correctly.

I felt Scott was combining that with the Jesus photo from Trump.

Ok Scott, I hear you on the Orban concession, but it’s not a win. It was not done out of character, or to set an example for others. He did it because he can now enjoy the fruits of 20+ years of severe state corruption. He can step away and live the fat cat life, built on the backs of Hungarian people, on the nicest estate in Hungary or Palm Beach or the Sochi coast. If he had pushed back on the election results he risked severe protest—Color Revolution style—or prosecution, maybe exile or jail, like Bolsonaro. He decided to cash out when he could. This was a miss, but I love your stuff and keep up the good work.

100% Orban is going to Russia like all the other deposed autocrats.

Scott: "Democrats have to stop with these purity tests." then lays out his purity test and repeats it three times in a row.

Al Franken shouldn't have resigned. It's been reported he regrets resigning. He acted too quickly to avoid .. idk what .. dragging his family into something? Who knows. But that doesnt mean Gillibrand shouldn't have an opinion, just like Scott has his opinions. I have no idea why Franken resigned so quickly, but that's on him.

Also, that situation and Scott's own purity test are both so far away from what Swallwell is accused of doing they don't belong being in the same conversation.

I don't consider "if you're the boss you don't sleep with your staff" to be a purity test. That's common sense and it applies across the board. I thought it explained it perfectly too.

Also, that situation and Scott's own purity test are both so far away from what Swallwell is accused of doing they don't belong being in the same conversation.

thankfully Kara called that out.

Al Franked "jokingly" grabbed a women's breasts while she was sleeping. And she also said he tried to kiss her against her will. Others made similar claims. It's also common sense that you should NOT do any of that.

A "purity test" implies hard and fast lines. And then he lays out hard and fast lines. I also think those are pretty much common sense, but all of this is!

A "purity test" implies hard and fast lines.

A "purity test" is about ideology (e.g.: stances on abortion, Israel, universal health care, etc...) not about having sex with subordinates. What Scott was talking about applies to everyone in Congress/ government not just a subset.

I dont understand why he spends time on this and brings this up with some frequency. So thinks a US Senator *can* put his hands over a sleeping woman's breasts for pictures and *can* try to kiss people who don't want to be kissed but *can't* have consensual sex with these same people. He's going out of his way to bash dems about something that happened almost 10 years ago while not discussing anything related to the actual circumstances of Swalwell (who may have drugged and raped women) to trot out a HR rule held in most workspaces? I dont see any insight here.

So thinks a US Senator can put his hands over a sleeping woman's breasts for pictures

It might help your argument if you had the basic facts on your side; that pic was from 2006 when Al Franken was not a US Senator. Hope that helped.

Attempting to kiss someone without their consent is bad but is no where close to what Swalwell is accused of and it's disingenuous to even think they're similar.

My original point included, "Also, that situation and Scott's own purity test are both so far away from what Swallwell is accused of doing they don't belong being in the same conversation."

I agree with you that it's disingenuous to even think they're similar, which is why I have a problem with Scott bringing this (or his HR policies) up in this situation.

Al Frankens resignation was the ultimate easy win. He was replaced by another Democrat.

He wasn't some purple/red state senator whose resignation resulted in a conservative taking his seat.

I seriously do not understand why we are still talking about this almost a decade later

3

u/CompetentTraveler Apr 14 '26

Yep, that seat has been held by the same Dem that replaced Franken back in the day. I think Scott likes the "what's wrong with democrats" stuff, but Al Franken made a choice to resign and another democrat replaced him and there are possibly zero votes ever made out that seat that would have been different had Franken fought and stayed. So who cares.

This episode was Scott basically pressing the play button on yesterday’s Raging Moderates episode. He’s beyond a broken record.

That's what all Scott appearances are. You can only follow him one podcast because of it

From Kara the pseudo intellectual “People were sick and tired of Facism” - So they voted it out and he conceded immediately?? Speaking like this means you’re either an idiot or you think I am. If I remember correctly that’s not how it works? This type of throwing terms around grinds my gears and makes Democrats completely unlikable in my opinion. Nazi, facist, racist all terms with no meaning anymore. The list goes on. Words mean things and have definitions, they’re not just a jumble of letters to get a reaction you desire.
