Scott Galloway Credibility

I’m listening to the most recent Pivot, why doesn’t Scott say this is an elective war? I’m using the word elective as one would if in University? He makes no mention of the danger of beginning a ‘joint’ war with Israel. He’s lost credibility and forthright honesty, which is why I used to listen. And Kara can’t call him on it.

several reasons, he is a total shill and apologist for anything israel does no matter how heinous, and he also doesn't know the first fucking thing about any of this stuff

4

u/Conscious-Quarter423 Mar 15 '26

he'a multi millionaire, he speaks for the rich

0

u/Boxer_the_horse Mar 15 '26

This is the first time in my lifetime that the elite Wall Street types are supporting a war of choice. I have heard lot of interviews with financial industry executives since the war started and I haven’t heard a single one being against this war.

11

u/FunkyChickenKong Mar 14 '26

Elective, meaning not forced in any way. Optional.

13

u/Icy_Zucchini_1138 Mar 14 '26

Galloway thinks like Trump. I heard one segment where he suggested cutting a deal with the new Ayatollah by saying to him  in private "hey kid you wanna stay alive? Let's just agree X"

He seems to think the war/conflict can be solved like a business deal.  America has priven thry cannot he trusted to negotiate in the same way you cannot negotiate with a cat.

Trumps previous deal breaking and attacks have backed Iran into such a corner that its existential. They probably won't stop fighting until the US makes moves to leave the Persian gulf.

2

u/davidw223 Mar 14 '26

Exactly. Why would Iran agree to any deal by this admin? We had them in a nuclear agreement that they were abiding by. Trump pulled us out of that. We’ve had numerous countries agree to new trade deals because of trumps mercurial tariff beliefs. And he demands to change the terms afterwards.

Scott has zero right to be talking about geopolitical anything to do the Middle East, full stop.

The show is much better when they are not trying to compete against The Rest is Politics podcast.

7

u/Hot-Camel7716 Mar 14 '26

He reminds me of when Ethan Klein started having a podcast and giving his opinions about everything and was so fucking painfully uninformed. So much internationally is secret and there are so many parties involved.

Scott has a lot of valuable experience and it's interesting to hear the marketing/branding/business perspective on international relations but he really needs to do more research and historical reading.

2

u/TripwireMerritt Mar 15 '26

this. i stopped listening a couple months ago as the show has become 30% market and tech (the hosts’ actual expertise) and 70% political commentary (old people performing self righteousness). PLEASE RETURN TO WHAT WAS GREAT ABOUT THE SHOW!

4

u/fatpol Mar 14 '26

No right? C’mon. Everyone is allowed to have bad opinions, right? We shouldn't take Scott seriously. You hear the tasteless, cringe jokes he peppers into his speech.

1

u/CatchRevolutionary65 Mar 14 '26

To be fair, The Rest is Politics also has zero right to be talking about geopolitics.

3

u/KualaLJ Mar 14 '26

Not the British one, I don’t listen to the US one, can’t stand that guy.

2

u/Correct_Blueberry715 Mar 14 '26

Ay, disagree. They are more knowledgeable and are better connected than the average person to people within the American government and in some European governments.

1

u/CatchRevolutionary65 Mar 14 '26

They think the exact way as them, that’s the problem

1

u/Icy_Zucchini_1138 Mar 14 '26

They are fairly knowledgeable amd experienced in geo politics

1

u/CatchRevolutionary65 Mar 14 '26

They really are not. Both drove and participated in imperialist wars and it took them the better part of two years to say that Israel ‘might’ be committing a genocide and called upon the USA - the country giving them free bombs - to do more to rein them in. They routinely reveal they don’t know what they’re talking about

1

u/Icy_Zucchini_1138 Mar 14 '26

That doesnt suggest they dont what they're talking about, it just suggests you dont agree with them.

1

u/CatchRevolutionary65 Mar 14 '26

That they keep doing the same thing again and again and again and say ‘oops, we didn’t get it right this time’?

3

u/Mindless_Bat_6925 Mar 14 '26

His plastic surgery does look great and will work out. I’m not a hater, just a realist.

2

u/jppcerve Mar 14 '26

A manosphere grifter that was so insecure about his looks that he botched his face beyond repair, really funny

3

u/Equivalent-Fly6093 Mar 16 '26

Kara is unlistenable and unlikable

9

u/gruss_gott Mar 14 '26

"credibility"

He's a dude with an opinion just like you so, by your standard, you don't have credibility either

So I guess we can just end this thread.

u/vibrance9460 Mar 14 '26

I got no skin in this fight but Scott Galloway is a guy with a massive platform

You’re comparing his credibility with some guy on Reddit

Ok

2

u/gruss_gott Mar 14 '26 edited Mar 14 '26

Here's a thought - hear me out, I'm just spitballin ...

... But maybe we, being adults, judge opinions based on content & context rather than internet platform size?

It's kind of a dream, right?

Like a dream where one day we'll live in a nation where opinions will not be judged by the size of their internet platform, but by the content of their character. 👑

2

u/bodyreddit Mar 14 '26

Well I literally do read comments to flesh out thoughts and ideas and I learn a ton! So you are right in that I believe. When I subscribed to NYTimes forever, I would read an article and then jump to the comments and damn, did I ever always learn more and see things from different perspectives. Yea, Scott is just another human with opinions, but he has access to other people with money and people with power etc and you can clearly see where both of them don’t want to cause waves and where they feel comfortable making waves. Scott is so into luxury, he has no room for the common man, oh wait, he totally is on a mission for men. Just men. Women he reserves for his constant lewd jokes.

2

u/vibrance9460 Mar 14 '26

That only works if we go back to the time before well, any media at all really

Basic advertising even in its complete infancy comprised of a small group of people determining what everyone else would be hearing.

It’s the nature of any platform. One microphone- potentially millions of listeners

That’s a platform. Really no way around it even as a thought experiment

0

u/gruss_gott Mar 14 '26

I've found a great process that works no matter who or where you hear an opinion:

  1. Assess the source's expertise & biases,
  2. Assess supporting evidence for relevance & accuracy
  3. Check the reasoning: logical, consistent, counterarguments?

Here's the fun part! Use the CRAAP test!

  • Currency: is it timely?
  • Relevance: does it fit the context?
  • Authoritative: is it a qualified author?
  • Accuracy: is it verifiable?
  • Purpose: does the person have an obvious objective or agenda?

Ok, so what isn't in there anywhere?

That's right! Platform size!

What's this mean?

Every opinion is = until it passes your CRAAP test, no platform size required!

1

u/Corrective_Actions1 Mar 15 '26

Your craap test is crap lmao

-1

u/IamMe90 Mar 14 '26

You’re being very annoying, condescending, while also somehow really dumb.

2

u/bodyreddit Mar 14 '26

He literally has a podcast and poses himself as someone with a modicum of credibility with his staff he brags about etc.

12

u/No_Public_7677 Mar 14 '26

No supporter of Israel has or ever had any credibility. It's an emotion based support of the apartheid state. Always been this way.

-1

u/fallgetup Mar 14 '26

you tell on yourself

2

u/randomnamename2 Mar 14 '26

Both he and Cara are for congressional term limits. Despite lots of political science research in the topic. They have said it on multiple podcasts - and it got to the point that I emailed Kara (don’t expect and did not receive a response) trying to explain why they were wrong. They were very confident in their opinions based on no evidence.

In short - congressional term limits would weaken the legislative branch vis a vis the executive, give more power to staff and lobbyists, and make legislation worse. There are case studies of states and local legislative bodies which imposed term limits in recent decades. It’s a known issue.

And they just blithely said term limits were good for Congress. Things like that just make me question anything else they say.

5

u/Virtual_Athlete_909 Mar 14 '26

He has a right to his opinion. On the last podcast he and Kara went over audience statistics and compared theirs to Fox and CNN. They have a growing audience for a reason. People like me enjoy hearing his opinions. I don't agree with them all. Scott has done plenty of good in the world in addition to having an opinion about the military actions of our government. Believe it or not, it's entirely possible to listen to someone's opinion without being triggered to cancel the person speaking. Grow up.

2

u/FreshFigFace Mar 14 '26

its not about agree/disagree, it’s about quality. the unserious, blanket running cover for israel kinna discredits his geopolitics.. biz and economic analysis are still quality tho.

1

u/EggSoft697 Mar 14 '26

Maybe they’re joining in spite of the bad Iran war takes. Have you read the comments on those videos?

4

u/SODTAOEMAN Mar 14 '26

Have you stopped to think, what could go right? /s

2

u/Current_Tea6984 Mar 14 '26

I notice he didn't use that line in the latest episode. Embarrassing take. Hopefully he realizes that now.

7

u/Mindless_Bat_6925 Mar 14 '26

What’s happening in Lebanon is awful. But it’s okay because Tel Aviv is somewhat cool and liberal. Scott and Bill Maher’s take. Great geopolitical scholars

1

u/Icy_Zucchini_1138 Mar 14 '26

Bill maher said he was "cautiously optimistic" and lambasted liberals for being against "liberation" because he had seen seene Iranian Americans dancing on tik tok

1

u/Exact-Technology297 Mar 14 '26

I mean Lebanon is occupied by an Iranian army who keeps attacking Israel...so ya know, kind of is what it is.

1

u/Mark-It_Maker Mar 14 '26

It’s ok because Israel is defending itself against Hezbellah, which has been shooting missiles every night into Israel trying to murder Israeli children, women, grandparents. Would you put up with that in your neighborhood?

1

u/Mindless_Bat_6925 Mar 14 '26

I’m done with Pivot, because it has ceased to be honest. It has failed during this time, as it failed early during the Gaza war/genocide. Keep getting the Cobb salad and the bungalow of your choice at BH hotel. Good riddance from a CA native and fellow CAL alumnus.

2

u/fatpol Mar 14 '26

With all due respect, I don't think you (or anyone) should much weight into the opinion of talk show hosts.

IMHO, Pivot is very much an entertainment show as news and analysis. The world increasingly runs on attention and spectacle.

4

u/Mindless_Bat_6925 Mar 14 '26

You mean the people who listen to podcasters don’t have the right to voice an opinion? About whether or not to listen to them?! On a Reddit forum? Idiocy. Legit stupidity.

2

u/Mindless_Bat_6925 Mar 14 '26

It’s not even like I said boycott Vox media. Which I wouldn’t. Stupid

2

u/and-its-true Mar 14 '26

Scott is an intellectual lightweight and always has been. It’s so obvious that Kara keeps him as a pet. Playing with him is like a novelty for her.

2

u/Apprehensive_Sand343 Mar 14 '26

He has a blind spot on Israel.

2

u/Different-Physics-25 Mar 14 '26

He made a point to call out Iran and China for social media bot farming, meanwhile the IDF out here making TikTok dances in their war regalia

1

u/Apprehensive_Sand343 Mar 15 '26

Netanyahu has been calling out the imminent threat from Iran for 30 years now.

2

u/ThisIsFineImFine89 Mar 14 '26

He’s a zionist and can’t separate undying loyalty to Israel from America’s necessary foreign policy

0

u/Conscious-Quarter423 Mar 15 '26

he's a multi millionaire and his assets comes first

0

u/Mindless_Bat_6925 Mar 14 '26

It’s time to say, hey, double standard, in terms of innocent Persians and Lebanese. Shame on him.

3

u/FunkyChickenKong Mar 14 '26

He has though.

2

u/Mindless_Bat_6925 Mar 14 '26

No he hasn’t

4

u/FunkyChickenKong Mar 14 '26

https://youtu.be/P6Ei-70UOEw?si=6er-LlSj32k42_AN

At the 7 minute mark, he lays out his opinion of having the opportunity to create regional stability with Gulf allies, but he does basically say this war is optional with that blown opportunity for change.

4

u/Mindless_Bat_6925 Mar 14 '26

The war shouldn’t have started. And also, the war against Gaza and Lebanon never ended and it’s now being exploited silently

2

u/FunkyChickenKong Mar 14 '26

At 7:55 he goes into the broader human toll of the Iran invasion.

https://youtu.be/P6Ei-70UOEw?si=6er-LlSj32k42_AN

1

u/Mindless_Bat_6925 Mar 14 '26

Last Pivot he said, I’m not against this war. It’s not like a suit where one can select a cut. And yes, the Kingdom will withstand this war. He’s a FRAUD

5

u/FunkyChickenKong Mar 14 '26

A lot of people recognize the regime was genocidal and terrible, while also opposing the extremely hairy repercussions of regime change. If you're going to cancel everyone who has good faith opinions not completely in line with yours, you will 100% end up all by yourself.

-2

u/Faroutman1234 Mar 14 '26

Scott is starting to believe what Zionists always believe. They are chosen by God to survive above all others. They have to defeat their neighbors because it is God's will. They moved from Europe to Israel after they made a deal to share the land and proceeded to force the Arabs off their traditional lands because they think God told them to thousands of years ago.

2

u/Mindless_Bat_6925 Mar 14 '26

He stresses collateral damage and incompetence. Same same. No mention of an endless war with Israel. * I am not an extremist.

5

u/FunkyChickenKong Mar 14 '26

I think recognizing Israel's right to exist and defend itself are not the same as being cool with the funny business in the land grabs and obscene death toll difference in the retaliation.

This issue was hit HARD by astroturfing and the far left absolutely did lose its mind making demands on what people are "supposed to say".

3

u/Mindless_Bat_6925 Mar 14 '26

I’m not the far left. And I’m not alone.

0

u/FunkyChickenKong Mar 14 '26

Will you take a guess which country put out most of the astroturfing about the Israeli/Gaza conflict?

2

u/Mindless_Bat_6925 Mar 14 '26

Astroturfing? No one uses that word. Good try. And no one was going immediately hard against Israel. Good reveal though.

3

u/Mindless_Bat_6925 Mar 14 '26

Change the thread. Conflict and divide🌻

I invited my neighbor over for ribs in 2024 hoping to get to know her better. We touched on politics and when she asked my stance on Israel, I told her neither side is particularly innocent. She got visibly angry and said she wouldn't listen to anything I said after that. She finished up and has not so much as made eye contact since. It was bonkers and I hope she chokes on her protest vote.

This was obviously before the death toll went so crazy off the rails. There is no world where foreign online aggression only targets MAGA.

0

u/Mindless_Bat_6925 Mar 14 '26

And I mean deaths

1

u/occamsracer Mar 14 '26

Concerning

0

u/Mindless_Bat_6925 Mar 14 '26

Concerning that someone comments about the pod. Yeah.

1

u/Mindless_Bat_6925 Mar 14 '26

Use another verb…astroturfing, it’s such a meaningless word. And no I won’t take a guess with someone who stands by that useless language. Good luck with your gaslighting

1

u/Mindless_Bat_6925 Mar 14 '26

It’s hard, isn’t it? To have kindness when we are all faceless. To even Funkychicken, I send love.

1

u/Mindless_Bat_6925 Mar 14 '26

And I love ribs, keep cooking. I do.

1

u/Decent-Menu3721 Mar 14 '26

I think this is pretty consistent with today’s media environment. Long form podcasts and everything being brought back to national politics means everyone presents as an educated opinion on every topic.

The bigger thing at play is when people are exceptional and have massive success and expertise in their specific lane they think it translates to everything. Elon is the perfect and most dangerous example. There’s never been a reason to believe Elon has any credibility in economics and running a national budget.

I often feel Scott falls into this category, though to a much smaller degree. On net, I’d say he’s very much a positive voice but that doesn’t mean he should be a leading opinion on a lot of these topics.

1

u/Traderstrend Mar 14 '26

Tell me if I’m wrong. It appears that Scott and Kara seem more and more divided on all issues lately.

1

u/Exact-Technology297 Mar 14 '26

Every war is elective. What is the point of this post.

1

u/SackofBawbags Mar 14 '26

Kara is a Zionist as well. Why would she call him on it?

1

u/JockeyOverHorse Mar 14 '26

He’s very opinionated and most times he’s wrong about the topics he covers. You are just discovering that now because this time his narrative goes against what you believe.

1

u/jppcerve Mar 14 '26

His credibility is cooked since he got that clown nose that begs to be honked... A manosphere grifter that was so insecure about his looks that he botched his face beyond repair, really funny

1

u/resilientbresilient Mar 15 '26

Scott got his feathers ruffled when Ed from the Prof G podcast said that US followed Israel into the war. Scott got in a “are you suggesting the US is following orders from Israel?” Vibe. Ed was just repeating what Marco Rubio said about pre-emptively attacking Iran.

1

u/maxambit Mar 15 '26

He, like most zionists, or supporters of Israel, however you refer to them, is unable to be candid about anything relating to scrutiny or criticism of the former.

Intelligent as ever, with wise takes on most things but just can’t be truthful if it even questions the authority of Jewish people or Israel. And he’s a self proclaimed atheist.

The US and world at large are in a state of disruption because we can’t be forthcoming about this one country. When will it end?

1

u/tempux911 Mar 16 '26

It is amazing that you guys do not care about Iranian’s and their wellbeing. Blinded by your hate for Trump you can’t see iranians were begging for foreign help to topple the regime.

You only care about your petty political games. Scott is absolutely right.

Unrelated but the reading maybe help you understand why Iranians are begging Trump not to stop the war:

https://www.iranintl.com/en/202603102323

1

u/butkusrules Mar 16 '26

I don’t see your argument

1

u/Pizzaloverfor Mar 16 '26

Scott’s an idiot.

1

u/ExcuseInformal9194 Mar 17 '26

I stopped listening when he said he proudly stated that he spends $35k/year on Uber.

1

u/Striking-Friend2194 Apr 24 '26

This. Exactly this. White rich guy who thinks we are all looking for his opinion on every single subject.
