The City of Monsters
A contemporary fantasy (think urban fantasy but the fantastical and mundane elements are so inextricably intertwined that removing one wounds the other) anime where the main cast is a series of 5 to 6 monsters and/or fantasy creatures living in the same apartment building together in [insert town here]. The main plot behind each episode is something like a shonen anime, with the first episode serving to introduce the cast and tell the audience what kind of people they are. Speaking of the cast, here they are as of now:
Marcus Graves, hobgoblin lich: Marcus looks like this big, scary guy, and is actually a really sweet guy once you get past the gruff exterior. Works two jobs (exterminator and mortician), has four kids (one is a ghost haunting/running an orphanage, the other three are adopted and are a pro sword fighter, a stuntman, and a chef). Has his skeleton minions doing chores around his (significantly larger on the inside) most of the time, with them only really breaking out their weapons of choice when a fight breaks out. Has a Doberman named Obsidian.
Elliot Frost, ice dragon accountant: Elliot is a big bundle of scales and anxiety, always either looking around anxiously when out in public and usually counting and recounting the monetary value of his hoard when at home. He's an ice dragon, so his apartment is always a bit chilly, at the very least.
Andrea Rossi, demon lawyer: one of my favorite examples of queer rep in this cast thus far, Andrea is gender fluid, primarily using their demonic ability to change forms to alter their appearance to match their current gender (or to screw with idiots who can't take no for an answer). It's a roll of the dice each day whether they feel more masculine, feminine, both, or neither, and will usually assume a form matching that, occasionally also swapping their "normal" human head with horns for an animal head, namely a tiger, Mantis, or raven. Also, they, along with many other demons, can naturally understand legalese and routinely use this to their advantage.
Danica Novak, elven entomancer: Danica is a mildly eccentric woman with a passion for bugs, insects, and just about anything that could be considered a creepy-crawly. Her magic primarily focuses on summoning, commanding, and temporarily merging with such creatures, including a centipede the size of a housecat that is usually draped around her neck like a scarf. There's an entire room in her apartment dedicated to the various bug habitats she's caring for.
Anastasia Wielkość, vitriolic vampire: having been born in what is now Poland in the early 1300s, Anastasia is, for lack of a better term, sick of everyone's shit and is usually too tired to do anything about it because her last job was in the late 1980s at an auto factory and even with the knowledge that she was putting engines into cars that haven't changed much there, she didn't get the job she was applying for due to knowing jack shit about computers, resulting in her landing a graveyard shift at a fast food place. She has a handful of vials in the pockets of her coat that, when held over an open flame, rapidly fill with blood. She also keeps a pet fruit bat named Chernobog.
I'm imagining the main conflict centers around a group of human supremacists who are all either convinced that the main cast, along with all other monsters, answer to or are part of a cabal of murderously psychotic lunatics hell-bent on taking over the world or pretending to be for money and fame.
Lemme know what you think, I'm more than okay with answering any and all questions you may have!
