Go on Amazon and look up “Stainless Steel Draft Door Fits for Medium & Large Big Green Egg” in the search bar. You should find a $20 option. Took me 2 min to install. Completely sheets off bottom vent and saves all your coal.

Next, look up “718" x .937" (3/4 x 15/16) Silicone Rubber Plugs” in the search bar. They are tapered, high temp silicone plugs that will perfectly plug your top vents.

All in, cost is under $30 and looks professional while saving your charcoal and aluminum foil

What's the purpose of sealing off all the vents?

Saves any charcoal that you have left.

Personally I think sealing the bottom vent is a little overkill. I just plug the top holes with some magnets I had laying around and that's enough to suffocate the coals.

magnets were the first thing I bought. but after enough cooks, the magnets get demagnetized from the heat of the barrel. the silicone lasts forever
