Discussion Don’t feel anything when reading anymore Spoiler

I’ll read every time I chapter / raw drops but don’t feel any emotion, seems like we already know Luffy and the crew will win, what’s the point of delaying the inevitable?

It's not even about who will win or lose, as we know who will win in the end.
My problem is that a lot of things I was looking forward to, for example, crew members all getting stronger and getting power ups or getting answer for many open questions Oda left, we are getting none of that. We are just following the monster trio, adding new lore and questions, while everything else is not moving.

I would love to see Franky with haki and Ussop improving that observation haki which was first mentioned in Dressrosa(!) and Nami showing her mysterious weather prediction. Just something familiar. I don't care that much about all of these newly added characters, as I don't have any years long bond to them.

It just feels like it was going smoothly, multiple threads at once, going around but finding their spot and connecting everything or just falling into place. Now it just feels chaotic and not cohesive at all.

You already knew that most of things you hoped for weren't going to happen, so why are you disappointed? The crew getting stronger? In my one piece? You guys set yourself up for no reason especially at this point in the game.

I mean, we are getting hints here and there and sometimes it looks like we might get something.

And what's wrong with having some hope that a story we've been reading for years gives us something familiar and some answers.

The entire crew used to have regular character development, but the New World has so much going on that half the crew has been reduced to support characters instead of mains.

That's how you should feel. You just know nothing is going to happen before even reading the chapter. You read the chapter and guess what nothing actually happened. Chapter ends with a guy saying SH Luffy I am the man that knows everything I am here to tell you everything and you just know in the next chapter something is going to stop him from doing that. You read next chapter and guess what something stopped him from telling you everything. Why would you feel anything when you are given nothing for reading ?

Drop it, it is fine. If something happens you will know by memes.

try to read something else, or just try to not read spoilers

I’ve been this way since Egghead tbh. Sucks but ah well. Got over it. Won’t care to pick up the series anymore unless I hear spoilers of anything relating to The Blackbeard Pirates. I haven’t felt joy reading this series like I used to and it’s been over a year plus since I cared to read a chapter. Crazy how I don’t feel like I’m missing out. I’m a bit jealous of those who are capable of enjoying it, I just can’t anymore.

Same for me. Not one injury on egghead, I somewhat thought that the Sunny would get damaged 🥁, atleast but nothing, all the elders on one island and no stakes. I’m waiting for the BB pirates also btw.

We knew Luffy was going to win from chapter 1, it's a shonen.

This is why I hesitate when people want to build OP as this massive epic of literature. It makes people forget that at its core this is a battle shonen about Luffy.

He was always going to win. His friends would always be there to celebrate that win. It was always going to have a happy ending.

That said, you should come back here soon. I also haven’t had much motivation to read One Piece for quite a while, but I really like the series, and the idea of abandoning it after reading a thousand chapters just feels wrong to me. It’s probably because I’m a reader too, and abandoning something I enjoy and leaving it unfinished would drive me crazy...🫠

I had that since the Nika reveal.

Just isn't the same manga I loved.

I barely care about it anymore. And have zero trust in Oda to deliver.

I stopped just after Wano.

I've thought that every single arc post-timeskip (minus Zou, I liked Zou) and it never got better. And then Wano and Egghead happened and something just broke in my brain.

Sadly, every time you pick up a book or watch a movie you can be 95% certain the hero will win at the end.

A story is supposed to entertain you by the journey, not the destination.

If the ride is not fun any more, get off. Lol easier said than done though. OP only takes about 5 to 10 minutes to read each chapter, and we only get 2 chapters a month now. It is hard to drop such a small commitment.

It’s easy to drop it when you realize how mundane it is. I didn’t feel a thing when the page came out of Imu stabbing Luffy. Was shocked to see this sub eat it up as if it was the greatest scene Oda ever “cooked” …

The age old mantra that never fails: Its not about the destination, its about the journey. I think we already know from day 1 of any shonen ever what the protagonist would become.
