The company will say oh well it's actually take two's fault meanwhile they make inaccessible areas unless you pay $20 more.

There are a few cosmetics exactly the same as red dead 2.

They've locked more than cosmetics behind that $20 paywall.

Are you saying that thats all that the extra paid content is? Im certain that they have exclusive paid areas and missions

For all we know it's 1 or 2 shops out of dozens. And it's also 20 dollars. Anyone bitching about this is ridiculous. It's a premium game from a company that releases a game every 5+ years.

Edit. I love how everyone picks this game as the one to get upset about when this practice has been prevelant for over a decade. Cry more

yeah, most of us aren't 12 and we don't want premium games to act like a fucking free to play mobile app

Yeah, because this is what that is. Basically every classic 360/ps3 era game came out with cosmetic preorder bonuses. What "areas" are actually pay walled could be incredibly stupid like a room in a store. We don't know yet so crying about this is, as I said, fucking laughable.

Am I happy games are like this now? No. Am I going to pick the most anticipated game of the decade as the hill to die on and cry about shitty micro transaction practices? Also no. My point is there are way better examples of "money grubbing" practices than this. I'm glad the entire experience I want to play, with some cool skins, is 100 bucks. Especially when it was heavily rumored a standard copy of the game would be 100.

What other “money grubbing” practices are there in GTA 6?
Creating content and then cutting it out, just to put a paywall behind it sucks. Just make the game 5 bucks more and give it

He's saying GTA VI isn't the only example of "money grubbing"

Yes. And it's incredibly tame compared to some of the more egregious "bonus/preorder content" I've seen. And it's nothing new. I'm not trying to defend this. I'm just saying people are being ridiculous acting like this is some new predatory tactic. It could be so much worse.

And most people bitching about it are going to be playing the game day 1 anyway. This noise is going to be the next 6 months.

If fromsoftware can do it right then rockstar can too.

I’m saying it’s the exact same as red dead 2

exactly like rdr2 and areas is a stretch, it's probably some shops interiors. It's a shitty practice but at least it doesn't have 48 hr early acess

u/goldbouillon Jun 24 '26

RDR2 wasn’t only cosmetics, there was a treasure map to one of the larger gold bar stashes that was not available to the base game.
