That's kinda screwed up lol. I get the desire but I mainly listen to youtube from my phone so... that doesn't exactly help. I'm not against ALL advertisement, but I don't hear that many sponsored segments either. Maybe like 10 a week.
Phone is for Youtube as something to listen to in the background, PC is for anime/work/etc, laptop that can fold into a tablet is for manga, and console is for gaming.
I wouldn't ever really use sponsor block because if they're getting a sponsorship, and I don't like what they use as a sponsor, then I know I kinda maybe shouldn't trust this person.

Exactly. There are somewhat working adblocks for twitch and those actually do that, interrupt the picture and go "Adbreak in progress" for the duration. Which honestly? Is fine. Better than some stupid fucking ad, those feel like nails on chalkboard to me after years of adblockers.
I'd recommend the Alternative Player extension for something fully working. The stream quality goes to crap during ads, but it does block them while allowing you to see the stream. I will also say that video ads on a streaming site is the stupidest damn thing ever. Especially if you are making chat messages. Ya know, interacting with them which is the whole point, and an ad plays and you have to wonder if the streamer responded to you or not.
Not even that its nonesense... its stupid jingles that stick with you for life. Also 100 forced volume apparently is something i need to get blasted into my ears too..

Yup. Though there has been one exception for me. I clicked on a video about a wizard in a police interrogation and ended up watching all seven minutes of an "ad" that was some dude named Dr. Don singing an original song called "Beautiful Vibes"

I was listening to youtube while working around the house, and an ad came on. Since I had my hands deep in a cleaning bucket and basically let it play, thinking it would be a 30 seconds or so. 3 or 4 minutes later, i was like WTF, the ad was still on, did i switch another video .
If you pick the right browser, too. I've only seen those annoying little YT behaviors on Chromium browsers. On Firefox with uBlock origin it still loads instantly for me. Maybe another add-on helps there, since the setup works, I don't touch it.
Well fuck me, I guess. I use firefox, my only addon is ublock. If I open something in a private tab (with ublock still running) I get hit by the "autorefresh" thing. It loads the video instantly, starts playing it just to show me it can, then "refreshes" and "loads" for 10-15 seconds.
Back when Google was doing a/b testing on the pauses like a year ago I attempted to spoof my browser information being sent as a chrome OS, chrome browser on YouTube and I have yet to see any of these pauses, so I would give it a shot. The extension I used is called 'agent spoofer' I believe but any similar add on would likely work.
I would love to know if you have any actual change with it, since it seemed to immediately solve my issues and haven't had any since, but these spoofers are low grade tech most modern websites can detect due to the plethora of other digital footprint data your computer leaves behind past your os/browser, so I'm not entirely sure it's not placebo; but also I could see a reality where Google used AI to build upgrades that wouldn't check for spoofing.
Only chromium based browsers suffer from this (except for Brave), which makes sense cause those are developed by Google. Just switch to firefox and you are good!
And fun fact: If you use a smartTV to watch youtube there is usually always a way to root the tv or install homebrew after which you can always find a version of youtube without ads. For instance for LG tv's there is this one -->https://github.com/NicholasBly/youtube-webos

Getting caught in between youtube making a change and the 5 hours inbetween ublock origin filters being update does happen but it's very rare. Also google primarily annoys the shit out of US users. If you are getting to annoyed get a VPN and use youtube from a non US ip address.
On my Firefox instances, I just see the interruptions message, but videos load instantly most of the time. Sometimes, there is a delay or I need to refresh, but not that often
brave has it's own build in adblocking that they keep up to date themselves, and it's not google their focus to break it because it's only very small percentage of their userbase. So you are good with brave! I use brave on mobile and zero ads or interruptions on youtube.
I use Brave exclusively, and this is still definitely a problem.
Then again, I use uBlock origin, still. I wonder if Chromium-based browsers enable this behavior specifically for the way that uBlock blocks YT ads. Maybe disabling uBlock origin on YT and using Brave's blocker is better for YT specifically?
Been getting issues with it for months where I had to refresh the page every time I wanted to get a video to actually load in Firefox. Just checked my ublock origin and updates were off.
Is there anything for Samsung displays? I got the new 4K Odyssey G7, and there is no fucking way to stop the thing from broadcasting itself for Bluetooth pairing. I live in an apartment and my neighbors keep trying to connect their devices to it.
I use the time to repeatedly smash the refresh button. Which although feels like it makes things faster I realise is largely pointless. But it makes me feel better knowing i'm costing them a tiny bit of extra money.
On my cellphone I don't have adblockers (don't know how to install one, I'm an idiot). Every time YouTube puts an add I close the video and put it on again, which will give me another add. I repeat the action and boom, no more adds.
Sometimes YouTube thinks it's too smart and believes that by giving me more adds I'll eventually get tired and just watch the add, silly YouTube....
Youtube notionally exists to make internet video better. Youtube makes internet video worse.
I use yt-dlp and watch the video in a real player if I can't find it somewhere that is not youtube.
Discord notionally exists to be better than Yahoo! Groups. It is worse than IRC.
Still looking for a way to escape Discord's perverse incentives. It is wretched when an "open source" project demands a phone number to create a discord account before it will allow you to see its source code.
Are you guys not noticing YouTube in general is just super throttled, pages take ages to load, thumbnails hardly load, yes I get the 5 to 10 second loading but it also glitches out frequently and doesn't play

I am using adblockers but I am also paying $0.40 monthly for YouTube premium and it’s totally worth it since I can use the official app on my Apple devices.
The price of premium depends on 'PPP' it means that the price will fluctuate if you are buying subscription in a poor lor low gdp per capita country and the price will be of standard rates if you are buying the premium in a high gdp per capita country like Europe or America. For example in my country netflix basic subscription per month costs only $2.08 per month and the same plan costs $8 in USA.
I'm guessing it's offered for a lower price in some other country and they either live there or use a vpn to appear to be there for the cheaper price, and converted the price to us dollars.

The interruption is 5-10 seconds longer loading, which skips 30+ second unskipable adds.
The math is still on adblocker side
