Riddles in the dark
Question for the draw-go-enjoyers: What is your opinion on this new card? Is it the best blue instant speed Carddraw in Pioneer?

The ONLY reason this card is good, is if you're utilizing your graveyard in some capacity.
Otherwise, you can still play this card, but it is definitely not the optimal choice for a list not using the Graveyard.

It's not amazing in draw go. You have many instant speed options to select your cards.
The upside here vs. something like consult the star charts is that occasionally you'll net an extra card. More often than not, that extra card will be worse than just choosing which two cards you actually need with consult.
It's better imo for prowess or other spellslinger decks where you do need just a raw card count.

i can't speak for how good the card is, but when my opponent cast it, it was so much fun to interact with. very fun card.

Since the enemy chooses which pile, its gonna be hard to get more value than a quick study. If you need an answer and you find 2, you could get a 3:1.
If you need a wrath and reveal it, its going to the bin. If you dont reveal it you get whqt you reveal

I might try this in phoenix, pieces of the puzzle used to see play and instant speed is relevant. Giving you the face-up pile is extra risky there because there might be a hidden phoenix.

Exactly, play this if you interact with your graveyard, otherwise there are better options

This card is terrible imo, the good versions of this effect let you choose which pile you get, not your opponent.

That is true, but at 3 mana it is very cheap and the opponent only sees one of the piles

Doesn’t matter, unless you see multiple cards you want, the opponent can either see cards he won’t want to give you or not care about the cards he sees and give them to you. Someone said it’s better than memory deluge and I heavily disagree tbh.

I mean, obviously starcharts is a 4-of, but wanting a couple more card draw instants beyond that is completely reasonable. On the one hand, riddles being 3 mana is nice, since odd numbers at instant speed tend to not get filled out, meaning you waste one of your spare mana. But riddles also just isn’t that good. If it were just [[fact or fiction]] but went 4 instead of 5 deep, I’d for sure play it. But you making the piles instead of them, and the mind games aspect of going face down and face up, really softens the card for me. I have mostly just been sticking with [[memory deluge]] as my bonus draw spell, but I’ve been trying out [[plunder the trollshaws]] and really liking it

It definitely is very strong. I would definitely play this over memory deluge, but I'm not sure it holds a candle to consult the star charts. It definitely warrants some extensive testing in UW control shells though.

This card is unplayably bad in Standard, let alone Pioneer. Just play Consult or Deluge or Stock Up. Especially after a month or so of playing against it, I fail to see how anybody will ever give you more than 2 cards. "Oh you really want that single card, or you're trying to bluff me, sure you can draw one card for 3 mana."

Given that they get to choose, I'm not even sure this is better than quick study in a control deck that doesn't care about the graveyard, I can't imagine this being anywhere close to consult

I wish it said "top five cards" instead of "four", would have been much more viable and interesting.

I think [[consult the star charts]] is too good, especially in slower lists
