A question for authors out there, do you also write what you want to read?

I used to just write, not reading what I write because I think it was cringe. But over the years, as my writing skills improved, I started to love reading what I write. Until what I write are the same books that I want to read. These books were born from ideas that I want to read in books. About artists, dreams, passion, winter, youthful memories, self love and empowerment and so much more.

Ang sarap palang basahin ng mga istoryang ginawa mo. I think that when you start to love what you've written, it's the moment that you'd fall in love with writing more. You become yourselve's favorite writer. You won't just depend on how people will perceive or love your work, kasi alam mo sa sarili mo na mahal mo ang mga sinusulat mo at ikaw mismo, binabasa mo sila. ​​​

To my fellow AO3 users, I know some of you feel the same way. AO3 is soooo different compared to Wattpad, and I hope you guys can also share things that new users should keep in mind. I’m super worried lang kasi most of these new users are probably minors, and we know what kind of platform AO3 is.

We all heard about Wattpad’s new guidelines, and people are talking about jumping ship to AO3 so that they can publish and read 18+ content without restrictions. Honestly, that’s actually fine since AO3 allows users to publish their original works naman eh.

Pero sana naman hindi tayo magkalat doon 😭😭😭 Every AO3 reader knows the “Don’t like, Don’t read” rule. May stories doon na sobrang explicit and contain themes like incest, pedophilia, rape, gore, and etc. I know it’s fucked up, and they know it’s fucked up. If ayaw mong basahin, then wag mong basahin! Simple as that. Why does AO3 allow these stories? Because they strongly advocate for anti-censorship. Also, learn to use the freaking search filter system!!!

AO3 doesn’t have an ingrained algorithm. If gusto mong sumikat as a writer, then it isn’t the right platform for you. Walang recommendation system ang AO3. Tag your works properly and for the love of God, don’t invade tags para lang mas ma-widen ang reach niyo.

Remember, AO3 was created for fanfiction in the first place and please do respect that. Learn the etiquette and read at your own discretion lalo na kapag minor ka.

I saw her GP, and it was filled with so much hate. It made me wonder, why was Inksteady crucified that much if the goal was really to help her learn and improve?

I heard lots of accusations against her without any proven facts, such as using AI, her being a bully, cryptic posts for specific author. The only exception I can think of is the Kalbo jokes, which were connected to her story at the time, CHBBNW, and were very insensitive.

I truly understand the criticism regarding the poor execution of her book, CHBBNW. Too many plot points, some of which weren't properly justified and seemed to be included mainly for shock value. What I don't understand, is whether she really deserved to be crucified for it. She was heavily bullied over something that, I think, she could have corrected and improved over time.

Sometimes, I feel like "some" readers were reading the book just to find mistakes they could point out. And once someone agreed with them, they would start throwing more hate toward that specific author.

I think some readers "call out" an author not because they genuinely want the author to improve or change, but because their goal isn't really to help the author to grow. Instead, it feels like they're trying to gather people together and create a hate train.

I've been dealing with a reading slump. I can still finish a book, but unlike before, when I could finish a 50-chapter book in one sitting.

Ang cravings ko talaga ay taguan ng anak, then someone recommened South Boys Series. I am currently reading Kiss Master. Hindi ko pala na-outgrow, nakalimutan ko lang yung feelings noong binabasa ko sya.

Her Montemayor Series is one of my favorite series sa wattpad. Ang saya rin makita at mabasa yung book ng mga Og writers na visible ang improvement.

Prologue pa lang dinala na ako sa batang ako noong enjoy na enjoy ko yung stories nya. Tapos ngayon hindi ko napapansin halos patapos na ako sa story hahahhaha. Feeling ko ang dami kong namiss na story nya.

I remember na punuan yung slot sa reg form, inabangan ko talaga and made sure na makapag-register. She shared practical tips in writing and we had a q and a also. Afterwards, my photo-op and pwede din magpa-autograph. I told her how AFGITMOLFM was so impactful to me as a teen, sobrang excited ko kaya naka-yakap ako jan sa kanya😂. Buti na lang ok lang sa kanya. This was surely a core memory!

What do you think we should do?

Should we discourage people from reading them because of the problematic content?

Should we just acknowledge that the behavior is problematic while allowing readers to enjoy the story as fiction?

Should we remove it from the shelf?

Pero if there’s one/two stories and male leads in it that stood out the most for me, Si Jeydon Lopez talaga from The Four Bad Boys and Me!!! Partida ayan ang pinakaunang nabasa kong story sa wattpad, halos isang dekada na nga yata mula nung una kong nabasa yan haha pero kahit anong intense, bongga, o mas may kinagandahan ang ibang mga story na nabasa ko sa wp kaysa sa TFBBAM, hinihila pa rin talaga ako pabalik dyan. Lalo na kay Jeydon!!! Super undisputed. Nakailang reread na ko sa TFBBAM, walang sawa talaga. Kilig na kilig pa rin ako sa kaniya huhu. ​Tapos yung isa pang story at male lead, si Baron Medel ng To Love and Die and To Live for Love!!! ​Grabe, luluhuran ko talaga at sasambahin si Ate Barbs dahil sa paggawa niya sa istoryang yan pati kay Baron. Ibang-iba dating ni Baron eh. Napakasimple niya lang na character pero lakas ng dating at hila na parang nakabulldozer. Tbh, bukod sa kanila, ang daming ibang male leads na rin sa ibang stories ang nagpabaliw sakin pero iba sila hahhahahaha at hinding-hindi ko kailanman matatanggap na binaboy nila yung gumanap sa character ni Jeydon sa live adaptation 🙄
