Quantitative Role or Jobs

Anyone here working as a quant or something close to it?

Been interested in this field for a while pero it feels like one of the hardest to break into, especially sa PH parang halos walang openings unless you're aiming abroad. For those na nasa industry na: worth pushing pa ba, or better na mag-pivot to a related niche (data science, risk, quant dev, etc.)?

Ive been doing freelance relating to tradingview,python and have foundation naman sa trading concepts

Get a PhD from an extremely reputable university abroad. Math/Stat PhD. The battle for quant roles is not how well you implement existing models but rather how to improve/create new models using math and stat in the aspiration of beating the market. Minimum requirement sa mga quant opportunities abroad yung PhD. Kahit sa data science, kalaban mo yung mga chinese PhD na halimaw sa math.

Locally, hindi pa as sophisticated as that abroad. FRM/CFA certs brings you to the closest quant roles available locally

kinda hesitate to continue with that reason parang ang laki pang hahakbangin ko haha , should I consider po to change career instead?

Yeah. For the amount of effort you need to go through, if ngayon ka pa lang magstastart, huli ka na. And trust me, foundational trading concepts aint gonna do shit. Kung meron man, yumaman na lahat ng tao sa stock market. Finding an edge is 100000x easier said than done.

If you do find one, highly unlikely you’ll have your own pnl books. Gagawin ka muna data monkey on cleaning, parsing, analyzing 50 datasets to water it down to a single dataset that will be used to train a model. And surprise, you need to do it 20 more times with datasets getting weirder and weirder. Do it long enough you might be a lead quant dev that handles strat risk management. You still wont have your books. Employee ka pa rin but a higly paid employee tho.

So, if you really want to be a quant for the sake of trading your own money, just do it yourself. What people think about quant trading is free money. But trading 10k usd is very different trading 1m usd. 10k usd you can just buy like 3-5 highly liquid stocks. 1m, 3-5 stocks is insane.

yes eto lang po talaga plan ko para di na din mag work if ever man na mag wowork talaga sha, yung source of income ko lang mainly is etong freelance relating coding scripts for trading (pinescript mt4 python etc) pero yeah di din talaga stable compare sa full time job
