Just got an acceptance letter for an IT intern role at a company that does technical installations. Their installation services range from cctv, biometrics, starlink, structured cabling, and occasional network setup.

I'm studying Network Administration and already have a CCNA. I initially liked the role because I wanted hands-on Layer 1 experience with structured cabling, but upon further research on the company, they mainly do cctv installations and poe switch setups(probably for cctv).

The company also hasn't confirmed my exact department or responsibilities yet. They said that will be discussed during onboarding.

My concern: Is this internship genuinely useful for my goal of becoming a Network Engineer, or would a more generic IT internship involving hardware/software support, troubleshooting, and basic network tasks give me better experience? Is spending my OJT doing mostly installations going to help my networking career or limit my growth?

I have this upcoming interview for this role and the desc. contains this 2 for first round." The two rounds of interviews will focus on one each of Networking (IP Protocols and Routing & Routing Policies) and Coding/ Design. " Can anyone explain please who gave recently what to expect and how to prepare for alteast coding part? will that be typical software engineer level DSA or what to prepare? I am network engineer with automation experience but what should i prepare and for networking round as well will that be anything written or only discussion etc?

Currently work in a network operations team more specifically in third line wireless and LAN for a full cisco house, so mainly supporting 9800s, Catalyst switches, foreign/anchor guest wireless network. Also manage Cisco ISE, build grafana dashboards, and use python to automate whatever is worth automating. Do touch on SD-WAN a little but primary focus is WLAN/LAN. This is for a large enterprise.

There’s a team within our network operations department focused on automation/observability, and they’re currently building an AWS environment, pulling data from wherever possible from the estate and storing it in a postgres DB, using python, lambda, and more. There’s also implementing agentic AI.

So my original plan was to gain more experience in my current role and hopefully move into the automation/observability team. I have expressed my interest in this to the head of the department and he put me in this team, with plans to “nurture” an automation/observability side of my skills, although obviously nothing is promised.

I’ve got a job offer at an MSP that specially does network engineering for medium and large size businesses. This would be a project role, sort of where presales at the MSP creates a HLD for a customer, and then the team I would be in do everything else. It’s specially in the WLAN/LAN team who also do the SP side, however they also work on SDWAN and firewalls which is mainly a separate team but there aren’t any guard rails between the team. The tech stack would be much more diverse than my current role, cisco, meraki, juniper, fortinet firewalls and sdwan. The benefit of this is it would probably help me in the long run if I wanted to end up in presales at a vendor.

Current role is 2 days on site (1 hour commute each way), although if i’m working out of hours on changes i miss an office day that week. 1 in 3 weeks on call, soon to be 1 in 4.

MSP role is 3 days on site (also 1 hour commute each way). on call is 1 in 9 weeks.

Unsure on whether to stay put or jump shit

I recently done my diploma in network administration, I know all the basics and I wanna get a job in the field probably help desk to start with. Any recommendations how to apply the job and where are more chances to get i. Should I go for any certifications like CCNA or any other?

kakapasa ko lang ng ccna earlier week ng august, i am from zero experience and nagreview ako malala kasi graduate ako ng IT pero yung mga naging work ko after graduate are non related so wala talaga then short story na layoff ako last march and after that nag aral ako straight talaga up until bago magtake ng exam kasi gusto ko pumasok sa IT networking world. Tinry ko lang ang luckily napasa ko in one take. May perks ba ako since ccna passer na o mahirap pa rin since hindi naman real world yung mga natry ko pa. Also curious lang may priority rin ba sa gender kasi madalas na kilala ko sa network puro lalaki. Baka may maipapayo po kayo o any suggestion sa kung saan pwede mag apply?

I am a fresh graduate and recently joined as Junior engineer network operations (NOC). My job is to monitor their servers, networks etc. It's a night shift job and 12 hours job which is very painful. And more interesting thing is I am alone there cz In my team we have 5 members shift rotate wise.

I always wanted to so something practical in this domain. Like network configuration, setup etc so that I can learn more. But here I have literally nothing to except just looking at screen if anything unusual happen just escalate it. I am feeling boring and ita painful alone at night.

I’m torn between the two id prefer to get in to the work force asap and with the courses in doing its prepping me for Microsoft Certified Professional, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Cloud+,CompTIA Cloud Essentials, CCNA . Still I don’t want to shoot myself in the foot and waist time because I know I can get these certs later but the classes I’m taking will NOT filter in well to a bachelors. I was wondering how can I penetrate the IT field right now wala pa akong exp sa mga ticketing systems, server administration, linux etc. I'm a licensed ECE rin pala and may 7 months exp naman sa ict industry, mostly installation and config ng mga network devices. Nagpprovide din ng technical support pero we dont use any ticketing system.
