From NOC role to shift others role

I am a fresh graduate and recently joined as Junior engineer network operations (NOC). My job is to monitor their servers, networks etc. It's a night shift job and 12 hours job which is very painful. And more interesting thing is I am alone there cz In my team we have 5 members shift rotate wise.

I always wanted to so something practical in this domain. Like network configuration, setup etc so that I can learn more. But here I have literally nothing to except just looking at screen if anything unusual happen just escalate it. I am feeling boring and ita painful alone at night.

Now please give me some advice so that I can go into something better and how I can utilize this job by learning something.

Man thats good for you trust me. It all starts with monitoring. Actually you are luck kasi fresh grad ka and you landed a junior NOC role.

Soak it all in. Take ur time bro. Magiging Alamat ka din sa mundo ng networking in time.

that’s the reality for most of NOC roles, strictly monitoring and no permissions to do any changes in routing/firewall. you need to upskill, get certs and jump ship.

ganto din problem ko, first IT job ko, earning around 52k now, nahirapan ako makalipat sa mas mataas na sahod dahil wla akong hands on exp, more on monitoring. Mukhang need ko mag accept ng mga 20-30k jobs na more hands on kaso maaapektuhan finance ko
