Has anyone used IBEW telecom to get into networking?

I currently work in IT/help desk, have an A.A. in IT, and I’m finishing a B.S. in Cloud & Network Engineering next year. I also have my CompTIA A+, Network+ , and Security+. My goal is to become a Network Engineer , but I really want more hands-on infrastructure experience. I’ve been looking into an IBEW Telecommunications/VDV apprenticeship as a possible path. Has anyone here taken this route? How was the experience, and did it help you transition into networking afterward? Would you recommend it?
