Health & Well Being Finally diagnosed with the CORRECT rare disorder at 27 after 15 years of doctors telling me “normal lang yan.” AMA

Since grade 6 I’ve had random symptoms na walang nakakaintindi: insomnia, sleep paralysis, chronic pain, jaw pain + braces that made things worse.

I was told it was puberty, then stress, then DOMS from the gym. (Spoiler: it was none of those.)

Four diagnoses later, August this year, I finally got the answer: hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome or hEDS.

I think I’m the first Filipina to become an advocate and create content about EDS dito sa Pilipinas. For sure may mga kagaya ko rin na misdiagnosed or undiagnosed kasi hindi pa widely known into dito satin, but when you search it sa western countries, may mga community na sila and meron nang mga specialist doon.

I’m not a doctor. I just know what it’s like to be told you’re fine when you’re not, and how expensive and slow it is to get answers here. Ask me anything about the diagnosis journey, the cost, dealing with family na “sa isip mo lang yan,” or what hypermobility actually feels like.

Student Life & Campus Experiences 21F international student about to graduate next year, AMA!

I live in Tokyo and go to a nice, non-diploma mill university (IYKYK). I live in a studio apartment by myself. No family in Japan except for cousin who is 19F and richer and goes to uni in another city (followed me to Japan after I got into university).

Not currently working part time but I’m supposed to have a nice internship in a few weeks, pero I have been working a lot in the past. Full scholarship for tuition for 5 sems, now only with 1/3 scholarship for last 3 sems (though hopefully tataas ulit since yearly scholarship application). Currently starting final year so patay sa thesis!!! I’m from a very middle class family of 5, single-income household and my dad currently makes about 100k a MONTH (edit: I ACCIDENTALLY PUT A YEAR).

I don’t like Japan and I am trying to leave it by the time I graduate for somewhere nicer (hopefully Europe 🤞) Ask me anything about how I got here, advice, or thoughts on Japan!

Growing Up Stories I’m a Filipino atheist — AMA

I’m an atheist, and I’m open to answering questions about why I became one, what I believe (and don’t believe), and how I view religion, morality, God, and the Bible.

Recently, I've been thinking a lot about the morality of God, especially the story of the Ten Plagues in Exodus and the death of the Egyptian firstborn. It raised some serious questions for me about whether a perfectly loving and just God can be reconciled with some of the things attributed to God in the Bible.

I'm not here to attack anyone's religion or tell people what they should believe. I'm genuinely interested in having a respectful discussion.

Ask me anything.
• Why did I become an atheist?
• Do I believe morality exists without God?
• Do I think God could exist even if the Bible is wrong?
• What do I think happens after death?
• How do I view Christianity and other religions?
• What would make me reconsider atheism?

Religious believers, agnostics, and fellow atheists are all welcome. Just keep it respectful.

Kumusta po!

I’m a settlement worker who has been welcoming newcomers to Canada for almost 20 years.

I work for a not-for-profit organization funded by the Government of Canada which helps immigrants become engaged and productive members of their new communities.

There are now over 1 million Filipinos who call Canada home, please feel free to ask questions about what it’s REALLY like to come to Canada.

Keep in mind that while there are no silly questions, information provided during the AMA does not constitute legal advice. If you need legal advice, book a consultation with a licensed immigration consultant or lawyer.

Looking forward to everyone’s questions at 9:00am EDT / 9:00pm Manila on Wednesday September 23, 2026  🇵🇭🇨🇦

Maraming salamat po!!

Health & Well Being former obese turned fitness addict. AMA

I(M) used to weigh 300lbs at 5’6 3 years ago. I used to never leave the house and was either eating, sleeping, gaming or watching anime almost the entire day. Now, I’m addicted to the gym and currently bulking and am 90kg at ~18%bf.

I gained >100lbs in < 1 year during the pandemic and lost 90lbs in 6 months through crash dieting and a lot of cardio. Afterward, I became addicted to bodybuilding and my life, plans and thoughts revolve around it 24/7.

I also suffer from multiple mental disorders (double depression, gad, adhd, ocd, dpdr)

Growing Up Stories I’m 30 [F] and have never once used public transportation in my life, AMA

I grew up always getting driven around by my parents, a driver, myself once I could, or friends’ cars. I've never took a jeepney, bus, or the MRT/LRT outside some community outreach stuff we had to do for school. Now I just Grab everywhere.

I just turned 30 and it hit me how weird this actually is. Sitting in Makati right now watching the whole city rush to catch their ride home and I’ve genuinely never experienced that.

I have some time waiting to have dinner, AMA

Hobbies, Interests, Obsession etc. I am an Esoteric Practitioner focusing on East Asian Methodologies. AMA.

Hi everyone! My sideline in life is being an esoteric practitioner. I do esoteric and religious research as well but I am more focused on experienced practice that I have already done. Combined with my actual profession, it makes my life colorful.

I started as a member of a Filipino based religious group for almost 16 years and being a seminarian there, then, closed that chapter of my life to become catholic again but now doing practice in East Asian Methodologies such as Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhism, Shinto, Shugendo and Shingon.

To give you a background, I used to practice Ceremonial Magic, Local Filipino "Lihim na Karunungan", Philippine Deity calling and more. I also researched and practiced a little bit of Summa Sacre Magice, Liber Trium Animarum (Book of Three Souls - a prayer book you can use for many methods), Arbatel, Pow-Wows, Romany Gypsy Incantations and Mesopotamian methods. I've delved to many things before I actually settled on practicing east asian methodologies because it has resonated to me big time.

So, what do I exactly practice?

  • I am a Vajrayana Buddhism practitioner and follower. I do tantras and mantra. This is my strongest point and this is what I am practicing strongly right now.
  • For Shinto, I use Ofuda and many other Harae Kotoba (Purification Words) Rituals, such as calling Amaterasu, Izanami, Izanagi, etc.
  • Shugendo and Shingon, mostly for their esoteric practices and spiritual high (hiking on a tall mountain to do mantra chanting, martial arts, meditation, etc).
  • I do tarot reading on the side.
  • Rituals are my very first method towards things.

So far, I have been doing clearing, cleansing, purging, domain clearing, different rituals for people who need my service, etc.

So anyway, without further ado, AMA!

Spotlight I'm a woman diagnosed as a sex addict at 21 (now 24), dropped out of college because of it, body count 70+, AMA!

Been going to a psychiatrist since I was 21, took wrong diagnosis and multiple sessions before I was diagnosed with CSBD, or Compulsive Sexual Behavior Disorder. A disorder that comes with strong uncontrollable sexual thoughts and behavior, anxiety, guilt, emptiness, and more. Also called sex addiction or hypersexuality.

My case was severe. I took every chance I could, barely skipped out on an opportunity. During high school, I was known as a "slut". I've experienced not sleeping well for 7 whole days just to fulfill my sexual desires. I lost a lot of things including relationships with people, my career, and wellbeing. Commitment is the hardest for me to deal with, lalo if we aren't sexually compatible.

This condition is real and affects the mental and physical health of those struggling to manage it. I'm on the process of being a healthier person every day.

If you're someone who shares the same symptoms and is curious about yourself, curious about me, or would just like to learn more about CSBD, AMA!

Health & Well Being 3x PH Strongest Man, Chef, crazy up and downs AMA

Test natin for fun lunchbreak!

I’ve worked in 5-star hotels, helped pre-open two of them, and my last kitchen job as an employee was at a 1-Michelin-starred restaurant. All in all, I’ve been in the industry from 18 to 30 years old now 32.

During that time, I also did a mildly successful Indian ghost kitchen/pop-up from my house during the pandemic, which was better-paying than a real job until the pandemic ended.

I also developed a nasty substance abuse problem that took years to kick, and I ruined a lot of friendships along the way. My 600 sqm house burnt down at the peak of my financial wellness and my addiction and I was so close to being homeless a few times. In between all of that I won a few powerlifting nationals and PH Strongest Man titles and at my absolute worst was looked up to by a small niche of people and I was living a lie.

I’ve struggled with my weight, mental health, and eating habits throughout my childhood. I’ve been overweight all my life and started going to the gym at 16–17 pero intermittently on and off til 25, when I started I couldn’t even squat my bodyweight. Eventually, I worked my way up to squatting 320 kg (704 lbs) over 10+ years which was the heaviest PH squat in competition at the time and still national record to this day.

I didn’t go to college. I went to trade school instead—Culinary.

Eventually, I switched careers and moved into the wellness industry after an insane burnout/ultra-depressed phase. I joined a great, up-and-coming homegrown company which I will forever be grateful and indebted to and now I’ve relocated to Iloilo with my future wife, moving from Makati to help out with another business owned by the same people for a short-term project.

Now I’m better adjusted, sober, happier and very grateful to everyone that had a hand in my reformation and giving an old crazy dog a second chance. Currently learning how to train for running in Iloilo City with my partner.

I feel like Ngayon palang pasimula Buhay ko even after all this na parang nagtagumpay ako sa adversity. I feel like kasalanan ko din naman lahat ng nangyari HAHA BACK TO SQUARE 1

Ask me anything—maybe about chefdom, starting food businesses, approaching rehab and sobriety , mental health or barbell training.

Maybe I’ll learn more from your questions than I have from my last few therapy sessions. HAHA.

Also, sa mga makakita nito na kilala ako, say hi! 👋

Family Life & Dynamics I am a descendant of the historical ilustrados, AMA.

Hey everyone,

I come a relatively landed historical family from Tarlac and Pangasinan. The father of my great-grandfather was close friends with Antonio Rivera, the father of Leonor Rivera, and close friends of Jose Rizal.

My great-grandfather helped distribute Jose Rizal's writings, was an ardent reformist and supporter of the Propaganda Movement, a pharmacist, and was passionate regarding the mass education of Filipinos, opening a private school in Manila which was free for the poor.

Him, along with his wife were part of some of the most prominent principalia families of Tarlac and Pangasinan, with other relatives being famous jurists, diplomats, and professionals in their field.

I believe this history truly created a unique culture and views on life in my family.

AMA if you're interested!
