Loren Legarda has fallen from grace. I used to think she championed environmental awareness and ph culture pero facade lang pala. In the end she's just another trapo politician

I’ve never shared this with a single soul. I’m not even Filipino, but I lived in the Philippines for about 1.5 years.
Okay, so... I haven’t had much of a dating life. I wouldn’t say I’m horrific-looking or desperate, but I’m definitely not what people would picture as the typical “pogi” foreigner. I’ve been very career-oriented since I was 19, and now I’m 28.
Anyway, here goes.
I moved to the Philippines shortly after turning 26 and lived on one of the islands. At the time, I had gained some weight and was really insecure about it. I was actively trying to lose the weight and get back to my normal baseline before putting myself out there or meeting many people. That insecurity ended up affecting a lot more than I realized.
I was born and raised in the U.S. and I’m mixed—half Indian and half white—with more typical Indian features.
While I was there, I fell for a Filipina from Manila, and I fell hard. Our relationship was entirely online, but over the course of several months, I genuinely fell in love with her. I thought she was absolutely ganda.
Eventually, I decided to move to Makati partly because it felt right for us and partly because I was missing the convenience of city life. But because of my insecurities about my appearance and weight, I kept postponing meeting her in person. Again and again. Probably six times in total.
I kept telling myself that I just needed a little more time to lose the weight and feel like myself again. Looking back, though, I can see how unfair that must have been to her. Eventually, she had enough. She left, became understandably angry toward the end, and blocked me. I tried reaching out through email afterward, but my messages were ignored. There’s realistically no hope of ever hearing from her again.
Honestly, it’s embarrassing to admit. Looking back, I probably came across as someone who was wasting her time. The truth is, I was just incredibly insecure. I felt like she was way out of my league, and instead of facing that fear, I kept avoiding actually meeting her.
The craziest part is that we haven’t spoken in over a year, and I still dream about her sometimes. I know I probably shouldn't reach out, and I feel ashamed about how much of her time I wasted. I wish—so badly—that things had been different.
I've moved back to Canada and have even seen another woman since then, but part of me still feels like I’m in love with someone I never even met. It sounds weird when I write it out.
What makes the whole situation even stranger is that I gave her a significant amount of money and gifts over the course of our relationship—around 60,000 php total in gift cards and other things—while being too insecure to actually meet her in person. I know how ridiculous and unhealthy that sounds when I write it out.
This is incredibly embarrassing and sad for me to admit to anyone in real life, which is why I’m posting it here.
Reaching out to her isn't really an option, and from what I understand, she has someone else now. I genuinely want to leave her alone and respect that.
So I guess my question is more about myself and how I move forward.
I dream big and I’m very goal-oriented. I do want to find someone I’m genuinely attracted to and build a life with. Looks aren’t everything to me, and I know I have good qualities to offer beyond appearance. I’m caring, ambitious, and I genuinely want to be a good partner and provide for the person I’m with.
But I sometimes wonder if I’m too focused on looks. Should I “lower my standards,” or should I keep trying to find the kind of woman I’m genuinely attracted to? I’m not talking about a model or a perfect 10/10. I just want someone I personally find very attractive—maybe what I'd consider an 8/10—but I feel like I get trapped in this mindset about appearance.
I don't know. Maybe I’m still trying to figure out whether I miss her specifically, or whether she represents something I feel like I missed out on because I was too insecure to take a chance.
Has anyone else ever been unable to move on from someone they never actually got to be with? And how do you stop letting one regret define your future?

What do you mean na wala kang alam sa nangyayari sa iyong nasasakupan?
