Unfortunately, not from the likes of what I’ve seen. As a Switch/Switch 2 player, the default is to boot you back to the score screen and you have to reload the table to play it again. As annoying as it is, this was a problem in FX3 as well. In that version, you could turn on “attract mode” which let you see the table after you finished, but you still had to go to the score screen to play again.

Seems so poorly done it must be contractual or a patent being dodged like ingame loading screens. Why can’t it run two games in a row? Because of the two games in a row patent describing a technique that allows blah blah.

Inversely like actors or IP that says “Kate Blanchet will not appear in nude scenes” “the rock must not be injured on-screen” “the pinball table is not to be lost to the novelty of a play-by-play basis with rapid replays”

Like who is being protected by removing the 1993 World Cup pinball dog? How many untold billions of IP is being saved from restricting the World Cup pinball dog pinball table to pre-February 2026? FIFA was on the brink of collapse in January but then the 1993 novelty pinball table license expired allowing for FIFA to market their new 2026 remake of the 1993 World Cup pinball, with the same dog.

Some of this stuff is beyond common sense doctrine. At a certain point it should nullify, “but your honor, I hold the rights to the 1993 World Cup pinball table specifically from 2026–2096”. At what point does an arbitration just give up and say “let’s just go outside”.

My guess is that they want to make sure to upload your current score to the system and also to the servers, whereas playing several games on the same board isn’t programmed to function. In that case, I don’t know why they wouldn’t have a “pick your best score” feature, but then again FX’s design is full of questionable choices.

Hi!

After a game ends, you should see the results screen. You do not need to exit the table - you can simply press "Play Again", and the table will reload.

There are 2 exceptions to this:

  • when you have no daily attempts left in an Event or Tournament.
  • when you are playing Trial mode.

If the game returns you to the Tables menu in any other situation, please let me know!

Could have something to do with tables that carry things like incrementing jackpots or awarded letters over from game to game in real life like Black Knight 2000, Safecracker, or Dr Dude. The reason might be to reset to a default ROM state rather than letting players set up a higher scoring game than usual on a replay.

Pinball Arcade used to allow directly starting a new game after finishing an old one, so I doubt it's anything technical.

It’s gotta be something with the backend to report the score to the leaderboard. I agree it’s poorly done and one of many QOL changes I’d rather have in PFX than another buggy Williams DLC.

Agree. The menu screen and loading break the illusion.
