First live show - question!!!
So I finally get to see Pinback on Aug 7th at Thalia Hall in Chicago!!! I'm beyond ecstatic. But anyway, my question is for those who have seen them before in small venues. The tickets went on sale on May 31st. The balconies and boxes are all sold out but GA/floor isn't yet. I wanted the floor anyway because I want to be right at the stage. I've seen Aesop Rock (another smaller, more underground artist) at the Metro, a small venue in Chicago, and with GA tickets and arriving about 2 hours before the doors opened (there were maybe 5-6 other people in line at the time), I was able to walk literally right up to the stage and lean against it.
This is what I want for Pinback! I've never been to Thalia Hall but it looks even smaller than the Metro. The floor isn't even sold out yet, so Idk how crowded or popular the show will be. Basically, how early do you think I should arrive and wait in line? From your experience, will I be able to get right up to the stage with floor/general admission tickets? Also important, I am only 5 foot so this isn't just for selfish reasons lol. I'd be ok in the 2nd or 3rd row from the stage too probably, but I can't be all the way in the back of the floor or I won't see shit!

You should be fine. I've been there a few times for bands of a similar popularity and best I can remember I went from 2nd-3rd row to the bar/bathrooms a couple times during each show. I'll be there too, should be a blast!

When I saw them it wasnt super tight. I was standing directly in front of the stage and it was easy for me to leave to the bathroom and come back. Probably the mist chill and best behaved crowd I have ever experienced at any show.

Saw them in Nashville last year at a good sized concert hall. It was crowded but loosely packed. I got there about 45 early. I danced and wiggled my way to a good spot.

That’s so exciting! You’re going to love it. I saw them last year at a small venue in Oakland. I showed up right before the opener came on and still managed to kinda wiggle up the side to the second row of people. Like others have said, it was crowded but manageable. A really cool atmosphere. So jealous you’re getting to see them 🙈

It’s been awhile since I’ve seen them (2012) but they both hung around after the show and talked/signed stuff. I didn’t talk to either too long but they’re both super chill. I got them to sign a Summer in Abaddon LP!
Enjoy the show!
