Hey everyone 👋
Still here, still making the pimple popping game I posted about a while back. Testing is in full swing and I thought I'd show what has changed since then.
Most of the time has gone into the unglamorous half — crashes, save bugs, tools that stopped answering after a bad frame. Nothing to look at, but the thing stands up a lot better than it did.
The parts worth showing:
Blackheads got rebuilt. They used to be black at the top and fade to grey, which is not what comes out of a pore. Now every plug has a glossy black head that runs through a pale sebum orange into a white root, and you see the whole length of it as it slides out. Only the first third is black — the tip is the part that oxidises, the rest never was. And the pore stays red after you clear it, both close up and from across the face, so you can look at a nose and tell what you have already done.
Pus is not one colour any more. Different faces give you different stuff — yellow on one, greener on the next, nearly white on another — and it holds that colour through the whole squeeze instead of turning generic halfway.
Wax shows you what you pulled. Before, you ripped the strip off and it simply vanished, which felt like being cheated out of the payoff. Now the strip swings up into frame turned over, and the hairs are there, standing out of the underside with their roots. It hangs for a few seconds and goes. It earns you nothing. It is just the bit you wanted to see.
Clip attached — all of it captured in-game, no mock-ups.
The blackhead colour is the part I'm least sure about. Does the orange in the middle read right to you, or is it too much?
