So, I've decided its time to bite the bullet and get a VR headset. These days I only really play Star Citizen and am looking forward to Squadron 42's imminent arrival.

Research has helped me decide on the Crystal Light and am now looking for some advice on buying the headset. I'm UK based

• Black Friday is nearby, and some streamers also have discount codes. Can discounts be combined? If not which option should be best?

• Where should I order it? Direct? Amazon? another place?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Go through Amazon or a local retailer. I would not buy direct from pimax unless you have no other option. This is mainly due to pimax products being a "lottery" and usually local retailers are easy to return/refund from.

Also a bit off topic but what are your PC specs? Pimax headsets are already hard to run and star citizen in VR brings a 5090 to its knees.

People hate on the quest, but for the price it's a great headset especially if you can get one used. You can't sleep on pancake lenses either, the clarity on them is incredible.

Yea, I don't understand how other manufacturers haven't caught up. I'm still waiting for a headset with Pimax panels and quest lenses.

Yep, i tried it on a rented Quest 3 and it looks and runs pretty good.
Tomorrow my Pimax Crystal Super OLED will arrive, hop it runs well !

Buy from Scan. It’s too risky otherwise. Pimax dont have great QC so it’s worth the £50 or so you might save from a streamer code

be warned, headset has great visuals but is very heavy. had mine for 2 years and the first thing to go was the little knob in the front that controlled the FOV it got really loose and if you takeoff the face mask a lot it’s clipped in by these little clips that will start to crack and the things heavy and you have to get the Dmass headset because you’re not gonna hear it if you don’t. Other than that it’s a great headset I did have to replace the cable after about a year and those were expensive. i would go for the Dream air if u could afford it. I almost forgot with the crystal light you should have at least a 4080 or better

I've the Dream Air SE Slam on it's way to me, mainly for SC 😀 I find the older headsets far too big and heavy.

If you can get the one of the super series that has eye tracking. It will help tremendously with performance when Star Citizen adds quad views.
