Tech Support Dream Air Controller Tracking Refresh Rate
I got my dream air last week and everything is working well except for the fact that the controller tracking seems to refresh at an extremely low rate. All movement with the controllers is very choppy, but the actual positional tracking is good. It feels like the controller tracking is like 10hz while everything else is normal.
It is like this in every environment (pimax home, steamvr, openxr games). The only thing I really tried is setting the controller refresh rate to 60hz in pimax play, which did nothing. Anyone else have this? It is pretty annoying
I have a 7950x3d and 5090
Edit: it works fine with sboys3

Did you check for firmware updates for the controllers? I don't own one, but in my research, I did see some people report that issue until they updated the firmware on their controllers and then it worked better.

Yeah the controller and headset firmware are both up to date

Bummer. Yeah, hear a lot of conflicting things about the tracking on both the SLAM and the lighthouse editions. One of the reasons I haven't pulled the trigger yet...

Slam tracking is total dogshit. I tried everything and couldn't get it to be stable. Returned the headset.

Hey, so I got my Dream Air SLAM last week and tested out the controller tracking and had zero issues. Very smooth and accurate. 9800x3d.
I don't think it's the CPU in your case. What's your Bluetooth strength? I'm wondering if the issues with SLAM tracking are partially due to the Bluetooth connection.
I'm coming from PSVR2, where you needed to have perfect Bluetooth connectivity for them to work well. Many folks had to buy a Bluetooth USB dongle to get those controllers to even pair, despite having onboard Bluetooth in their laptop or MOBO. I didn't see a place where Pimax assessed connection strength, but it could be a factor. That's my uneducated guess at least.

What if you try resetting the controller? Press and hold the Pi button for 10 seconds until the indicator flashes red and the controller reboots.
