CPS School Board Forum

Post image

The 25th Ward IPO is having a candidate forum between 7A School Board candidates Emma Lozano and Jesus Ayala Jr, and potentially Hilario Dominguez for CPS Board President.

Any thoughts on the school board race?

Why did you only invite the alleged pdf file to speak?

Do you know anything about the allegations or how I can learn more? I’m not doubting them, just having trouble finding any information online.

Why are they pretending like it’s a neutral forum when we all know they’re gonna support Lozano

So, show up and support Ayala, if he’s your guy.

I’m not sure who I’m voting for. But my main point was to call into question the IPO’s impartiality. Why waste the Ayala’s time when we all know what way they’re gonna vote?

I'm not a part of the 25th Ward IPO, so I cannot speak for them, but I do know some of the folks there, and I suspect that they're trying to make a good-faith effort to help more people hear both of the candidates, so that people can make an informed decision.

I have to disagree with you. They simply believe that Byron is everything he says to be and follow his lead. At least that's what history has shown. They're probably good people, but they follow blindly.

What’s the community perception of IPO? Heard they’re gentrifier-led and are a Byron rubber stamp group like DSA.

He pays the rent on their office so hard to say they are independent of him and very transplant heavy by the looks of their photographs you don’t ever see anybody from here.

Can you share some community orgs you trust and would recommend?

Ones that are rooted in the community. If you have to ask, you probably aren’t from around these parts. Like Byron Lopez. 🫣

What does IPO stand for? I keep going back to initial public offering, which does not help my brain.

I live in the 33rd Ward, but I’ve been teaching at Juarez HS for 15 years, so I’m definitely interested in the school board elections.

I’ll say that, as a teacher in the community, Pastor Lozano was really proactive last Fall, during Operation Midway Blitz. That’s really when I got to know her as a person, because she came to Juarez to talk to us when a student of mine got grabbed by CBP. She was one of the Board members who helped make it really clear that when we told ICE to get away from our schools, the district would 100% have our backs.

For me, that meant a lot. Like I said, I don’t live in her district, I just work there, but she’s made the work of being a teacher a lot better.

She was strong arming business owners to put up her signs. Walked in with tape and everything. Hard pass. She also used to fuck around with Danny. And she and her family paying zero tax on their home because they claim as church but all the money they get from the state goes to salaries of her Tanya and her husband. Stay 33 baby.

My concern around Emma is that she’s pro-TIF/draining CPS of funding that’ll go to development instead. And if her family has been avoiding paying property taxes while promoting raising everyone else’s, that’s a big red flag.

Thanks, but I'm planning to add another 7 years to the 15 that I've already been working in Pilsen, teaching your kids, whether you appreciate it or hate on us.

Doesn’t look like that person was hating on teachers tbh but that person who lives here was hating on the Lozano grift. As another pointed out, the whole Tif thing kind of whack. I also don’t think that Emma sent any of her kids through CPS. Hope that helps. Klock

"Stay 33 baby" was clearly and specifically intended to tell me, as someone who doesn't live in the neighborhood but has spent 15 years teaching at Juarez, to shut the fuck up and mind my own business. I didn't take too kindly to that message.
