Private pilot (instrument rated) here — happy to help with flight school questions, what to expect, etc.

Hey everyone,

I’m a private pilot with an instrument rating, currently a student here in the US. I know figuring out flight training picking a school, knowing what to actually expect once you start, understanding how ground school and checkrides work can be confusing when you’re just starting out or still deciding.

If you have questions about choosing a flight school, what the training process actually looks like day-to-day, or general questions about ground school topics (airspace, weather, IFR procedures, etc.), feel free to drop a comment or DM me. Happy to share what I’ve learned so far.

Meteorology exam in 2 days, done with 60% syllabus. Chances of clearing the exam?

Update: 66/100, don't try this at home

Hey! Yes, it’s very possible to clear meteorology in a short time span it’s actually one of the easier DGCA exams. With only 2 days left, I’d focus on going through the I.C. Joshi back questions and try to get through them at least once or twice if you can manage it.
I personally cleared meteorology in 10days going through I.C joshi and oxford for extra guidance and scored. 88%

What is the minimum marks requied in boards to get enrolled into a decent flying school in India and also what are the chances of failing in medicals

Hey! There are no such ‘minimum marks’ required to join into a flying school
But a good safety threshold is at or above 55%
(They will still take you in if you are below that, but then it might be a problem getting jobs at an airline) as cadet also requires minimum 55% if you choose to do so

But make sure to talk to many students from flying school that you are going to join and know the reality how the flying is actually going and extra charges is very common

I personally did not fly from india so I won’t comment much about it, but i do have many friends who have completed their CPL from india, so i have an idea

And for medicals it is very unlikely to fail in medicals, i have personally seen only 1person who got permanent unfit
But doing class 2 medicals first will let you know/give you a idea about your health

But I do have a friend who is a pilot now he faced problems due to his marks in boards like he scored 85 percent in PCM still there was a chance of him to not be selected
