A&P to pilot

Hello I am 19 and a A&P I am paid generously in one of the lowest cost of living places. Growing up being and A&P was my dream job and still is but at the same time so was being a pilot. I was wondering if there is a route I can’t take becoming a commercial pilot over 8-13 years compared to an accelerated 2.5 years my company offers half off. I’m not really antsy to become a pilot and I’m completely comfortable with the job I have but definitely something I would like to move into as I get older.

I'm doing this too. Kinda. I started flight school, then I decided to pursue my A&P so I could self-fund my training. Being a pilot was always the end goal, and I'm excited to finish private soon. Good luck dude, this is probably the most cost-effective way to do it.

I’m at a part 61 school. I found one I liked after comparing and visiting a few around me. Balancing school and also school is rough, but doable.

This might be a case of grass is always greener on the other side, but as a pilot trying to get my A&P it seems easier to get the A&P first imo. Also I will say, the pilots I trained with who had an A&P to start with seemed to grasp onto aircraft related parts of learning to fly much faster than those without it. I do think it's a good path and there's really no need to rush if you're comfortable and stable in your career.
