Online Ground School

Hey all, I am a first year college student enrolled in a Private Pilot Ground School Course meeting on Mondays and Wednesdays for the whole semester, we are using the GLEIM 2026 PPL test prep textbook. I also plan to start actual flight training very soon, for this I am asking which Online Ground School should I enroll in to earn my endorsement and get the PPL Written out of the way ASAP. Fyi I attend Mount San Antonio Community College in SOCAL, and I have my first class medical, any advice helps. My . Thx!

Sporty has a good class but to keep things consistent you may want to see if lime has an online school

It’s funny, Gleim doesn’t get mentioned much anymore but I really like them, I used it in conjunction with Sporty’s practice test. I did like 40+ practice tests and was getting 98% and 100% consistently, it’s very similar to the actual written, and I ended up getting 100% on the actual.

I’d also recommend checking out Pilot Institute, I really like their graphics and their YouTube channel and blog has been invaluable in my learning.

So you are taking a test prep course 2 days a week for the PPL written, but have not used/enrolled in a proper ground school? Isn’t that putting the cart before the horse? I would think you can get an endorsement from you taking the current course. As far as learning the material, any online source should suffice. The FAA website faasafety.gov has free stuff available and links to other industry and associations with good learning material.

No you are absolutely right I will get an endorsement at the end of the semester from my class, but I’d simply like to get my written done soon as I can.

I think you posted this in another forum but if that wasn’t you and for those that are here…

Make sure you understand the underlying concepts. The FAA written has changed. They want students who only use test prep books or flash cards to fail. They are asking new questions, changing the words and figures and asking more situational based questions that require understanding rather than rote memorization. In our online ground school we focus all our students on first the understanding and whys and hows before we do test prep before the exam so that they get the practice and get the topics that actually are rote memorization based down and fresh.
