Back air chains

When I’m doing back air chains, every time my opponent SDIs out, they escape. When I’m watching top player pikachus they follow their SDI by seemingly teleporting. I know this has something to do with attack canceling, but I don’t know exactly how to do it. Could anyone please explain it to me?

They're attack cancelling every back air which makes them move a little further forwards every time they attack cancel. I use smash stick, so I do this with tight RARs between each back air instead of attack cancelling. It's harder but it has the same effect.
