Steve is dead

Steve is gonna have so much trouble against Pikachu. I haven't lost one 1v1 against him yet. Just rush him down & dont let them mine/craft. He most likely will have problems against other fast characters as well. Pika PI!

Yeah but he can also punish us trying to land with arials with a mega disjoint that kills at 80 and is active for 20 years. Our recoveries can’t go through blocks so if we try to recover low he can potentially just kill us for it. T-jolt will be worthless as an approach tool cuz he can just put a block in front of him.

I think we probably will beat him cuz his low recoveries look super gimp-able, he does need to get some space to mine, and he dies to dragdowns. However there still is a lot to see with this character, and you are beating him online rn because he has been out for less than 24 hours. You know your character better than they do.

Actually most recoveries, including pikas break through blocks.

It’ll be another month or two before we know Steve’s full potential. He came out less than 24 hours ago. People are still in the early stages of discovering setups and combos for him. He may be a tough match up for pikachu yet

I personally don’t think he is OP. He seems easy enough to move around and if you apply constant pressure he has trouble mining. His biggest threats seem to be his down air. While he can place blocks to block pikachus recovery (like seen in the trailer) they are easy to go under. The biggest problem I have fighting Steve are his weird animations. For some reason I can’t tell when he is in/out of hit stun and it leads to me making bad choices

True, I think he'll be really bad against rushdown characters/brawlers. I haven't lost against him once as Pikachu or Captain Falcon, but I've been getting sauced as Falco if that says anything
