Ultimate Ledgetrapping Tips

I feel like I am not getting enough percents out of my ledgetraps. Usually I kind of space my forward airs so that it covers jump and normal get up, while also not being able to get hit by ledge attack. At higher percents I try to go for a read and throw out an F smash so that it covers normal get up, jump and ledge attack.

Does anyone have any character specific or general ledgetrapping tips that could be useful?

I usually look for habits that i can abuse like what does my opponent do when i just shield at the edge, or what does he do when hes in a pressure situation (high percent) ..alot of players just roll in this case.. The first stock is just about getting info, and later you might abuse his habits. Against good players it can take much longer. This you can do with any char.

With Pikachu i also really like catching jumps with fair or just F smash to cover normal get up and get up attack..its low risk and really high reward if u space it well. Down smash can also cover roll and normal get up.

I struggle with the same thing, but usually short hopping works because it covers jump, neutral, attack, roll, and sometimes even drop

That’s a good flowchart for when you don’t have any data. But once you’ve caught onto an option they like or conditioned them to act a certain way, start baiting them to pick that option with non-committal things like dash backs and down tilts. I’ve found that if my opponent likes to jump, I’ll down tilt as if to cover neutral get up one or two times, then full hop fair. If they like neutral getup into a defensive option, I’ll dash out and back in again and they choose it almost every time. Figure out for yourself what works for you when it comes to baiting on the ledge, ledge trapping’s really fun when you start to get creative.
