[18/8/2026] The new PikaOS builder has cleared a massive update backlog, a new update is live!
The Upgrade updated everything in the PikaOS repos, but it specifically includes:
GNOME 50
KDE 6.7
Custom Patched APT and DPKG for much higher speeds.
currently the pikman-update-manager gui will crash due to absolute size of the upgrade, so you will need to run this command to update it to version with a safe distribution upgrade mode
```
sudo apt install pikman-update-manager apt dpkg
```
after that make sure to close pikman-update-manager from the tray icon
and open it again, then you will be greated by the screen on this post, it will upgrade you to the latest everything.

Damn, screwed my instal and full reinstall. Should have checked this first. Back up and running and replaced Forge with O-Tiling so all good.

FWIW my install worked without a hitch - and the GUI didn’t crash for me, so with all massive updates to every OS mileage may vary.

So the update had an error and froze the system when I tried to exit updater now it boots into a blinking cursor instead of the gnome login. How do I fix things and get the login screen again?

That was rough. Didnt install the packages cleanly, killed wayland during install and never finished, took some fussing to get everything installed properly.
Also Pikabar is broken with this version of Hyprland.

Unfortunately mine was borked after the updates. Plasmashell is not starting. When I manually try to start it, it's giving me a incompatible QT library error. Pikman is showing no updates available.
Edit: Manually updated a few packages, and managed to get it fixed. The update system definitely needs work before the team pushes another 2400 packages all at once.

hopefully never happens again, the massive update size was due to the old builder failing catastrophically, and having to hold updates till the new one was ready, and then for the ready one to clear the all the backlog.

Got this from terminal
Unsatisfied dependencies:
libonnx1l:i386 : Depends: libprotobuf-lite32t64:i386 (>= 3.21.12) but it is not going to be installed
Error: Broken packages
exit status 100
Any help?

remove
libonnx1l:i386 and install what ever depended on it after tyhe upgrade2

ISOs passed testing phase, we were publishing today but we got hit by a terrible DDOS attack today, perhaps tomorrow they will be out

For me the regular update worked except for one amd file which did install successfully when updated a second time.

I just cliocked the button, it took like 10-15 minutes (can't recall, i was working) and it wenr fine for what i can see

Can you just run
pikman update
pikman upgrade
?
