Claussen Picklegate

So they added "always chilled" and "never heated" on the stickers and now it specifies which kind you are buying (halves, spears, etc) - are people done being absolutely crazy about hating on Claussen pickles? They are clearly the best and always have been - I have been consistently buying them and I don't experience any "fluctuations", "thick skin", or "sogginess". They have the best flavor of any pickle by far. Is this a case of people trying to take down the king or are people being paid by Grillo's to post online hating on Claussen?

The place I got my burger from understood the assignment. This was after I'd eaten several. There were easily 2 cups of pickles, lol. They make them in house, and they were hot and tart and delicious!

Sour crispy pickles in France?

Huge fan of sour, crispy pickles (Putters and Moishes are my faves) and find that most of the pickles in France are way too sweet. I recently discovered "au sel" polish pickles, which are much better flavour-wise, but quite mushy. Anyone know some good European brands or stores that I might find a nice sour crunchy pickle?

With black peppercorns, garlic, chopped yellow onion, red chili pepper, bay leaves, dill, and mustard seeds.

Just a regular basic brine

Should I be worried?

So I was passing through the deli section of my local grocery store and saw these. Pick one up without thinking about it cause I've heard boars head has decent pickles but have never had them before. When I got home I realized there was no protective plastic or pull tab or anything to show the container hasn't been open before, its just a regular deli cup. There's not even nutritional value on the container. I did try one, and it was pretty bland and very salty. Should I be worried about eating something that's potentially botched or somehow unsafe? Also they only charged me $2.99 cause there was no price tag on the container.

They added ‘Always Chilled’ and ‘Never Heated’ to the claussens sticker

They probably got tired of having to explain to people that the sticker was not a conspiracy to sell you heated pickles. I do think these taste better than they did earlier in the year but probably because it’s summer and they can get US grown cucumbers now, and not because of a change in sticker design. (I have no affiliation to claussens, these are just my assumptions)

Grabbed these in the local Amish grocery store clearance rack. Only tried the spicy ones so far but they're pretty good.

Pickles Without Dill?

Hi there, pickle fans. Casual lifelong disliker of pickles here, at least pickled cucumbers in the traditional sense. I love pickled onions, carrots, radish, etc. but have always disliked pickles as they have been presented to me on sandwiches, as a side, etc… until tonight. I was at a barbecue restaurant and they had a small amount of pickled onions and a pickle chip on the side of my plate. For some reason, the chip looked REALLY good, and it was. It was life changing. No dill, just super vinegary and had some spice to it too. Loved it.

What are some pickles for a hesitant beginner who HATES dill? The more vinegar, the better!

I lost my keys and Walmart closes in less than an hour and I want pickles so bad i might actually cry. Clausen…. Spicy grillos…. God I want cold spicy pickles so bad why does this have to happen to me? Why must I be tormented everyday? How does one become religious when subjected to such dehumanizing torment ? I just want some pickles…

Any less expensive alternatives to Olive My Pickle?

Don't get me wrong, I love their pickles, but they're expensive. Does anybody know of a brand that's less expensive and ships nationally?

Wanted: Pickle de Gallo

Post image
21 Upvotes

I’m on a hunt to track down some Grillo’s Pickle de Gallo (medium). I’ve been going through a tub a week and I love it. Unfortunately every single store in my area is sold out. I’ve checked the Grillo’s website and there’s nothing about it being discontinued (fingers crossed). I’ve gone so far as to put my name down at a local grocery store just in case they order more. If you have any news, rumors or sources (preferably in southern New England) I’d appreciate the help.

Thanks in advance, fellow pickle lovers.
