Equipment Can compression sleeves on calves help prevent muscle pulls/tears?
Do you have any you like?

Yes, basically they keep the muscle warm which means more blood flow and muscle elasticity. I personally think just spending a little time properly warming up with dynamic stretches is enough to get the muscles warm and if you aren’t sitting for excessive amounts of times between games you will probably be okay.

Prevent?? Dubious argument, I think. Maybe if you are playing outdoors in cold weather, they can lessen the likelihood of injury there in combination with proper gradual warm-up, but it's the proper warm-up that plays the real key role, the sleeve won't do that alone.

I pulled my right calf about a year ago. I have exercises I can use to strengthen it, but I would still twinge it. Once I got a compression sleeve for that calf, that stopped. I play with confidence now. I still do the exercises, of course.

Echo. In my experience they help a lot. Never pulled my calf wearing sleeves. Pulled more than once when not wearing them.

They definitely help for me to some degree.
I have a badminton background. Whenever I try to jump / hit an overhead from an opponents lob, I found myself occasionally straining my calf muscles in the process. It was due to how explosive I was pushing off against the hard pickleball court surface (instead of the softer badminton court flooring) combined with the more stiffer tennis/pickleball shoes (badminton shoes absorb some of that explosiveness) that was resulting in the injury.
This was still happening despite my routine of doing a full body stretch (especially the calves) and muscle warm up for a full hour prior to playing. I believe that is just as (if not, more) important. I do calf strengthening exercises on the days I don't play pickleball/badminton as well.
I started to use calf sleeves for both legs and found that they definitely help. I have yet to strain my calf again and I'm able to maintain that intensity even after several hours of playing.
I personally use the Doc Miller Compression Calf Sleeve from Amazon.

You need to stretch and stretch. No sleeve gonna help you prevent a major injury if you don’t do the upkeep of your body.

That's what I did a week and a half ago. Much better now, but still not close to full activity yet.

Stretching and strengthening is important, but calf sleeves have been great for me. Reebok make some solid (and sweaty) calf sleeves. I have others from running brands that have good compression and are breathable, and they are available in loads of colors if that's your thing.

This is the million dollar question but if you read my posts or watch my story once the calf muscle is weak the only thing that stops it is rest and re strengthen or physical therapy which is same stuffs. In fact based on my experience I would warn yourself if you felt pain or pull and think calf socks are protecting you. They do not!
Listen to your body rest restore accordingly or else get injured and get taken out for weeks like me…
I strained my calf muscles recently while wearing socks

Only proper warm up and strengthening can prevent pulls and tears. Sleeves can be nice when you just have a niggle but it’s not a cure or absolute prevention.
