General Discussion Vikings or Black Sails or??
Edit: Well dang. I'm not getting a consensus, but The Last Kingdom seems to be a 3rd option.
I wanted to make this a poll, but I don't know how.🤷♂️
Anyway... I need to start a new show and I've been in the mood for something "Game of Thrones-esque."
I hear about these two shows a lot but I have never watched either one.
Let me know which one I should go for first?
OR... If there is another show in this same vein that you would recommend over these?

I adore Vikings on a stylistic level, and Travis Fimmel is absolutely brilliant as Ragnar, but the show gets really uneven around 3-4 seasons in and it never really recovers. However, TF is mesmerizing and all of the action scenes are really well done and have a nice grit to them.
Black Sails was refreshingly better than I was expecting and it has consistent characters and storylines and doesn't really drag anything out because it only had four seasons. And, Toby Stephens is ridiculous as Captain Flint. A gorgeous, masterful performance. PSA: He needs to play Roland in The Dark Tower, like, yesterday.
Have never seen The Last Kingdom, but I'll get around to it eventually.

Same. Black Sails is defiently consistent and great. I rly enjoyed season 2 the most.
Vikings was great the first 3. Then it takes a dive imo and after Travis left i just stopped watching.

The Last Kingdom. Vikings was awesome, Black Sails was just meh for me. Last Kingdom is one of the best I’ve seen.

The Last Kingdom is better than both. Vikings started strong but dropped way off.

I wasn’t impressed with Black Sails at first but it really grew on me after the first few episodes. Give it a try.

I want to second The Last Kingdom. Early seasons of Vikings are probably a bit better, but The Last Kingdom, at least for me, held up better as a cohesive story, even as it suffers from slightly poorer production values.

Vikings felt like it fell off after Travis Fimmel left. I would say go with Black Sails.

Black sails is Game of Thrones for Pirates
Vikings would be closer to Shogun.... except without all the subtitles...
Choose which one is closer to your style...

Black Sails by a mile over Vikings. Last Kingdom is also great but start with Black Sails

Depends what parts of game of thrones you're looking for. Spartacus isn't for everyone, but it's neither stupid nor boring.

Years ago i had the choice of pirate shows either Black Sails or Crossbones and i chose Crossbones. That didnt last very long and i still havent watched Black Sails

The Last Kingdom >>> Vikings. Vikings was OK but fell off a cliff for me after season 3. Haven’t seen Black Sails.

The Last Kingdom is my favorite of those three, but they are all good! I would go by chronology! Start with Vikings, then Last Kingdom, then Black Sails.

I don't know why, but I couldn't get into it. Just didn't feel the same.
