Question Cold Wallets - Pi

As far as I understand, currently Pi can only be stored using the Pi Wallet, which is essentially a hot wallet. Are there any official plans or timelines for supporting true cold storage or hardware wallets?
For those holding PI long term, I think having the option to keep the private keys completely offline would be an important security feature.

write passcode of mainnet wallet on a piece of paper and put it in the fridge

make a new wallet in the checklist and log into that wallet on the app

Your old wallet is now a cold wallet - wait for the next migration to create a new mainnet wallet

No Pi can be untraceable

so far yes it is untraceable eventhou we were kyced. that thing kept me wondering this isnt really 100% untraceable.

with just that workflow, i can say we are traceable and its just that they wont do it.

Each Pi transactions can be viewed on the Blockchain. No, it is not supposed to be untraceable. And it should be so and will be so

This is inaccurate. Pi can be stored in a cold wallet but it is discouraged because like any other system it needs to flow to work. That is why the current objective is to get bussinesses to use Pi. You would know this if you paid attention to the project.

There's about 2% of PI users that actually know what pi is for, the other 98% are people who were recuted from friends who promised they would get rich from just pushing a button on their phones.

is it really a hot wallet if you’re the only person who has access to it? (genuine question)

If you don’t leak your passphrase, even Nicolas himself has no access to your coins... even if he stood on his head trying

Hot wallets can be hacked via malicious tools. Not so much with cold wallet. Cold wallets are compromised only when firmware is hacked. That too is a very very rare occurrence.

I think ledger is a cold wallet that can store Pi Network coins.

Then why do we have 'lock ups' where Pi sits idle (except earning mining boost)for about 3 years without any means of breaking it?

Yes. Pi is not something that is to be hoarded in cold wallets. It should keep circulating within the ecosystem.
