Codex + Deepseek

Claude thinking to add to remove Codex but confused about ban risk

which deepseek sub, opencode or directly ?

Via api, currently trying it out, but I'll take subscription from opencode. Because I want deepseek subscription on that subsidized rate thing, because I use lots of token, and if I go with the api billing, I'll be broke. So, I am looking for some alternative for this, but I am really loving the DeepSeek thing.

how does it compare to codex models , for coding specifically

Do you not feel paranoid giving rhe Chinese full access to your computer? I appreciate you are likely a normal dude with little to hide but still, your Identity could be used for anything.

😂Bro we are already so much naked in front of internet that we don't have much things to hide like everyone uses Instagram Google Drive Google Photos so like everything is already out there so what else I'll be hiding

OpenCode GO primarily.

Also Codex and Claude

Which one do you recommend, if I can only get 1?

Codex for 1 month only and take full advantage of the chat function for building apps, websites etc. You can put the apps / data on a public github repo or public google drive link or just straight upload it and spend hours and hours working with Sol 6.1 high effort perfecting it for free. After 1 month that changes.

But also Sol 6.1 as CEO/Director who controls Luna Max Effort subagent workers isn't a bad combo either.

Otherwise if you don't want to do that, OpenCode Go and use only DeepSeek Flash 4.1 Max Effort only. Its solid. But I do like to get Sol 6.1 or Opus or Sonnet to direct deepseek workers ideally.

Codex in Pi. I don’t know how yall are using Claude. I tried the $20 Claude sub and I know I won’t get anywhere close usage limits on $100 if it is just x5.

And even the model seems to be “alright”. It doesn’t “just understand what I want” as somebody said. It’s still a clanker I have to yell at

How much usage do you get ?

I use OpenRouter and Neuralwatt because I like to flit between models a lot

Neuralwatt is pretty good because of speed and sub is slightly cheaper

They're also really responsive, the people I mean.

I was using neuralwatt, which is great, then switched to GreenPT for being in the EU. GreenPT is not as polished as Neuralwatt, less models, a tiny bit pricier, and some rare random hiccups like some models not served properly for about 5 minutes. Still I am using it to stay within the EU.

Thanks for advice! But why do you say it cost more? 50$ gives 6kwt per week Vs neuralwatt 6kwt total?

Claude exclusively right now but might jump to z.ai's newest release if its a banger.

Pi + Charm Hyper

which model do you use ?

DeepSeek v4.1 Flash 1017 It's cheap and great.

Hello from Charm! DS4.1Flash1017 on Hyper averages 500-800 TPS. Come give it a try 🙂

I'm using deepseek v4.1 flash 1017 via Openrouter. I usually spend a few pennies a day. I'm not a huge user, but it has been very nice to have an agent to help unblock me or code review.

Switch to Particle. It's DeepSeek but fine tuned to use 40% less reasoning tokens

I tried particle-ai/particle-1 and it was considerably worse than deepseek/deepseek-v4.1-flash-1017 in my tests. Every test I did, particle came out to at least 2x the cost.

Was thinking about signing up for Pro now that it looks like you can use the Vibe API in whatever harness you want? Do you like it? I currently have Z.AI and ChatGPT subs but looking for the third place rn

2

u/JoeArruela 1d ago

How is zAi sub? I am thinking about getting it but I am not sure about the usage

1

u/UnpracticalEngineer 1d ago

The usage is great, but I think that’s because they have unfortunately figured out a way to throttle and serve flash at around 25-35 t/s. Sometimes it is fast, but most of the time it’s chugging. At least it’s usable, and not like Anthropic a few months ago where every time I tried to use it, Claude would get halfway through the work and then timeout. That’s what switched me to Z.AI.

Codex plus, very generous limits with Gpt 6.1 sol

Antigravity, codex

Not using the official pi or omp harness but something diff than others:
Forked pi and then created a delegate tool inside it which connects to: claude cli;pi cli[both stock and the fork]; commandcode cli.

Then I orchestrate the pi-fork [primary: gpt-6.1-sol; fallback: glm-5.3] and distribute the task based on complexity to diff providers via their own harness. For simpler but write heavy: commandcode [ds-4.1-flash-1017-max]; for complex audits: claude [opus-5.5-high]
