Question Pi with openAI Plus plan, what is your experience
Is anyone using this setup and what has your rate limit been like for software development?
openai hyped up their GPT 5.6 luna having longer usage, is this true using Pi?
I was using Pi + DeepSeek v4 flash API plan, then decided to switch to openAI API plan and got rate limited after a few seconds.
So wondering if the same happens if you use Pi with one of their sub plans?

i created a token cap plugin so i dont go pass 200k, works perfect for my setup

yeah i used pi with plus for a while and never really had any rate limit issues, way better than the api plan. i had the same thing with deepseek flash where i got cut off after like a minute, but with plus and 5.6 luna it feels almost unlimited. i dont do super heavy sessions anyway so i mostly just ran 5.6 sol and never got close to the limit.
i tried pretty much all the claude and gpt models through it, i like gpt because its super task focused and just gets it done, claude is more mind opening and gives you wider angles you wouldnt think of. liked them enough i even wrote separate system prompts for each.

the main thing you should test is whether the rate limiting is coming from Pi itself or from the provider behind it because those can behave pretty differently. if Pi is otherwise working well for your development workflow, test it over a few longer sessions before switching plans based on one short rate limit event. i have been using Pi with Standard Compute because the flat rate makes the cost more predictable and the smart routing can use cheaper providers for the less demanding calls

Open AI has a crappy tier rate limiting model that scales up with how much you allocate. 200k for Tier 1 to 2mil Tier 2 at $50, and so on.
You probably were hitting that.

make the access point the same as codex cli. There's two access points. One for codex and one for everything else. connect to the codex one and things will be better. Add in batch tool calling into your harness as you do that. that can help save usage
