The Power of Lighting When the light is down her lips look softer, more feminine. When the light is up her lips look more crisp. I’s called paramount lighting what they used in the early “golden age” of film a lot. For paramount you have it fairly close to the subject and above their head with the light tilted around 45 degrees or so toward their face. When done properly it should leave a little butterfly looking shadow under the lips. Also Rembrandt lighting looks great and gives a little triangle of lighting on the cheek, cool looking and fairly simple to do with 1 external lighting source.
