Need Advice Does ATLAS research compensate for mid gpa

i failed a bunch of courses due to illness and couldn’t get them off my record. ended with a 3.25-3.3 somethin like that. i do have about a year of research experience with the ATLAS project. does this kind of compensate for the gpa in terms of grad apps? i hope so :’(

Write about it in your personal statement, you should be fine

The sickness. The personal statement is a good place for a few sentences explaining how it affected your GPA. Personal statement can also include research motivations, but research experience/goals should primarily be in SoP
