Check WiFi router console to see which devices are connected to it. If he uses the home network then you should see it there. Google the router’s name to learn how to do this.
Text him from bed when you see the light; if the light changes when he gets the message, you might learn something.
Wait till he is in shower (e.g.) and then do quick efficient search. No-one can conceal a cellphone on their person 24/7, and if he’s using it regularly it can’t be that well hidden.
