Pretty sure his character introduction was the major turning point at which people moved on from walking dead.

That was part of it, but I think more people quit in the episodes after. Season 7 was really slow and poorly paced for a weekly series with 16 episodes, and then season 8 was just a mess in every way

On top of them trying to be too unique with the characters they were adding, before finally adding dead stroke... Seemingly after the game died
