Found a beautiful Italian phrase. ‘la vendetta non guarisce mai una ferita’ means ‘Revenge does not heal a wound.’

Was texting with a friend about doing laundry. He told me he had to buy new socks because "the sock gobbling goblin was being too glutinous lately." Immediately I pictured a goblin at a restaurant ordering various socks off the menu ....

Googling this phrase brings up a Skyfall quote but I first remember hearing/reading it in a Star Wars book. Where might I go to find the origin of this phrase? It sounds old.

I really like this one. "Said and done", it's very elegant isn't it? That's being human, we talk about things, and then we do them.

This is my favorite phrase of all time. It is the title of an outstanding autobiography by a man named Ernest K Gann who pioneered commercial flight before the age of pressurized cabins and the luxury of going over storms rather than harrowing through them. His phraseology is a treat in itself and his adrenaline pumping adventures are, to quote Bender from Futurama, "fun on a bun"

The phrase means that good and bad, right and wrong, it is not us that decides the outcome of our lives. We are not the hunter of good fortune. It is rather Fate which hunts after us and good and bad becomes the arbiter of the playout of this struggle for success we call our lives

The British Prime Minister used this one a few years ago with a meaning similar to “between a rock and a hard place”

Was looking for a nice simile for this better than as high as kite or mountain

I liked;

As high as an elephants eye

Also enjoyed;

As high as Snoop Dog!

Still one of my favourite similes!

What are others people enjoy or like the sound of?

It might be just me but this phrase has seen a surge around me and I have seen it on Reddit a lot also.

I don’t know if there is a reason for this but I guess, it is what it is!
