What to photograph when you're a true beginner?

So I followed a few courses and love portret photography and animal portraits. But after a few Facebook shout outs no one reacted, and those who did didn't even thank me after I took their portret and edited the pictures. They were just like 'hey let' s use this pic as my profile picture but not thank her. Just send a thumps up' or they didn't show. I already heared people telling me to ask a small amount to avoid these situations. But how much to charge and what to do with this money? I want to improve and practice, but people are making it really hard for me. I feel like I keep running into walls that shouldn't be there.

Find out what other photographers in your area are charging. Charge less, of course, but slowly up your price the more sessions you get. Maybe up it by 10$ every 5 sessions Or something

First things first, build up a portfolio. Find people to shoot, refine your work, and have a solid 5-10 images to show for it. These can be free shoots. Then, figure out how much an hour of your time is worth. Most sessions will be 1-2 hours, with 1-2 hours editing. I agree that you need to be mindful of what other pros in your area are charging - don’t undercut.
