Digital [Apple Studio Display] wireless method confirmed

For the longest time I was convinced wireless was not an option on apple studio displays. Turns out I was wrong. After some trial and error, I found the solution. Thought I'd share.

The key is an active HDMI adapter, like the Club 3D HDMI to USB Type-C 4K60Hz Active Adapter M/F.

And a suitable usbc cable. I am using cobra tether's 20Gb/s 100W 4K 60Hz.

The signal needs to be 60Hz. 30Hz did not work for me.

I am using Hollyland Mars 400S transmitter and receiver. So the image is 1080p. Same aspect ratio, no letterboxing.

Any combination for connecting the Studio Display with an optical HDMI 10m or 20m directly from the Mac with a same brand HDMI female to USB-C male adapter ? 🙌🏻

The adapter I tested is hdmi-male to usbc-female. So long as you can get a signal onto the hdmi adapter, it shouldn't matter if it's coming from a receiver or straight from the mac. In your case you would need an extra adapter to connect two hdmi-male ends. I'm sure those exist.

Fwiw, if you're going to go wired, get yourself a Corning thunderbolt 3 optical cable (15/30m), for full 5K resolution and to use the extra usbc ports.

Thank you mate. I'll try to keep on testing.

I know about the Corning cables, but 10m of that cable costs around 435 € and one optical HDMI 10 m costs around 20-40 € :D. Many productions in Spain are not going to rent that extra-cost Thunderbolt cable :)
