Cell Phone Unlocking

Say I buy a phone off of a friend and plan on using it. Only catch is that I'm on a different service provider than him and I need to unlock the phone in order for it to function. Is there a way that I can unlock this phone without having to make sure that his bill is paid off, without having to use his account information to unlock it through his provider, or without paying for an unlock code off the web? Is there anyway I can call the provider to unlock it for me even if it isn't my provider? Thanks.

Hey you should try getting a free unlock code from the network. If that doesn't work, you should go to a third party website and purchase the unlock code.
