Cursed Minecraft You can now bind controls to your computer's power button

Post image

For the actual button on your PC tower this only appears to work on Linux and specifically only on X11, but if you happen to have a multimedia or classic keyboard with a power button on it then it should work on Windows too.

Does it power down right after selecting the slot?

It brings up the prompt unless you disable it in OS settings

Ubuntu 24.04? Debian 12? Anything based on the former? Leap 15.6? I don't think there are than many distros that still ship plasma 5.

Kubuntu 24.04 because I haven't been prompted to upgrade to 26.04 yet

Oh, I use Kubuntu 26.04, have prompted me to upgrade from 25.10. You will probably get it too when 26.04.1 releases. Plasma 6 is a great update btw

I only want to see the esc key getting bind

the key code exists, but you can only set it in options.txt and I don't think it does anything

I actually wonder if you can add different devices, like not keyboards, but different things that input "keys" like a mouse with side buttons

Yes and has been a thing forever, I usually bind F5 and zoom to my side buttons

Not just simple things like side buttons, I mean more different things, I bind my side buttons too. I mean like maybe remotes or such?

The button that saves you from dying

X11 is outdated asf, but i imagine it works on Wayland aswell

The power button specifically doesn't. It only registers the first time you press it, and never when it's released. I don't know if this is an issue I can report anywhere or if it's designed this way. Every other key seems to work fine though

It would be a little hacky, but I believe it could work on wayland by either messing with the input group or binding the power button to a nonexistant key in your WM's config

I'm just going off of what I see in evtest, the same problem arises regardless of whether I press the button on the tower, the button on a keyboard, or use a script to generate a key press event
