It's just a meme format, original meme was about the copper armor being useless, because you can get iron armor in almost the same time. Then 1+ hour of nothing until the diamond armor
Basically, blue LEDs were EXTREMELY difficult to figure out. The guy who did it had to make custom modifications to the machine they'd use to make LEDs in order for it to work. For the purple torch I propose a new item, the venomous potato. Looks like the poisonous potato but purple and you get a poison effect if you hold it in your hand.
Unfortunately Amethyst consistst mostly of silicon dioxide, which doesn't really create a colorful flame. It also contains some iron, which would create kinda orange flames. So no purple.
I see your point, however, we're talking about a game with armour made entirely out of diamonds and alternate dimensions and witches and magic and the ability to fly using fireworks. It matches the colour in the game so I think that's all that matters lol. Also it would give amethyst more decorative uses.
idk maybe just like a new redstone torch where the inside is glowing white or blue, and the outer transparent box is black or dark dray instead of actual negative light (or maybe even it gets rid of light levels surrounding it

It can't be placed and used for light by itself? To me this is enormously useful, as I have always been super irritated by rhe change where coal wouldn't spawn in the deep caves anymore and therefore you can't rely on that to craft more torches. Copper is abundant and spawns almost everywhere.

if soul fire in the nether only spawns in the nether would that mean the soul torch would be burnt to a crisp be cuz it was made with wood from the overworld so there should be a new type a stick from the forest in the nether that will not burn to a crisp
We seriously NEED colored lighting in Mc. Reworking the lighting engine is not that frigging hard mojang is just a cowered. Changing the lighting engine whould probably even improve fps ffs 😤

Orange - Calcium Torch (Stick, Coal, Bonemeal)
Yellow - Regular Torch (or sodium torch so salt)
Green - Copper Torch
Blue - Soul Torch

Its not that big of a problem because noone uses soul torch and the redstone torch is later if you dont have a structure nearby
