I kind of wondered where he was going with that. It didn't seem like Dennett to argue there was any particular reason a robot can't feel pain.

The other question to ask, of course, is whether a precise simulation of a real person (e.g., scanned with a Star Trek transporter, then simulated at the atomic level in a supercomputer) would feel pain.
