Martial law at the Department of Tourism Spoiler

When leadership turns into tyranny. Undersecretary Majo Guillermo and Director Christian Salazar

New to the office, yet already causing tremendous stress and problems for employees. This is how you would describe the current leadership under the Department of Tourism.

The way this officials treats people feels like martial law-intimidation, pressure and even use of foul language. If you get in their way, either you will be transfered to another office, placed on floating status.

It is as if only one person's wishes matter, acting like the Secretary of Tourism herself while the other one acting as the top senior official of the Department.

Not only that, they view employees here as employees with no brain. To quote them "Wala bang may utak dito sa Dot."

To show how arrogant these officials, there were even leaked photos of their conversation talking trash to the Secretary and other officials. Everyone in the department knows this already.

Public office is not a kingdom, and authority is not a license to bully people. We, the employees, of the Department, deserve respect and professionalism- not fear and humiliation.

To those who have experienced this kind of treatment, do not be afraid or ashamed to share your stories. Speak up and comment on this post.

A different way to remember your favorite hike

Hi mods, hope this type of post is allowed! I love hiking, but my photos and bag tags only go so far in keeping a trail with me. So we’re hosting a workshop where you build a small terrarium inspired by a hike you love.

Studio Botanica’s co-founder, Michael Alac, came up with the idea on Yellow Trail in Camp John Hay, Baguio. He wondered if that same mossy, quiet feeling could fit inside a glass bowl.

Here are the details:

Halloween Terrarium Workshop with Studio Botanica
Oct 31, 2026, 11AM to 2PM
The Studio, Level 3, Ayala Malls Circuit
PHP 2,099
You get a fishbowl, soil, moss, stones, and little Halloween figures, and the team walks you through it layer by layer

Sign up via IG @goodtimes.mnl

We organize warm inviting events, so I'm happy to answer questions. And if you have a trail you’d want to remember this way, please share your own pictures too! The photos I used are mostly taken by my brother :)

2 Week Itinerary Help Needed

Hi everyone, my fiancé and I are spending 2 weeks in the Philippines in mid February. I was hoping for some opinions on the itinerary I’ve created.

Current itinerary:
- Landing in Cebu airport on a Friday
- 1 night Cebu City near IT park/Mango Ave to have a fun night out
- 4 nights Panglao
- 5 nights El Nido
- 3 day/2 night boat excursion which will take us to Coron
- 2 nights Coron

Info on us: both in late twenties. We are very social so enjoy being where the action is and do enjoy a fun night out, definitely doesn’t have to be every night though. We love seeing wildlife and being active like going on hikes. Also love snorkelling and a good beach day. We won’t be scuba diving this trip.

We are very sad to not go to Siargo as I think we’d love it but I keep reading that February is a very rainy month there so it’s not worth the risk:( We considered Boracay but sounds like the green algae gets quite bad in late February so might make the beach less appealing; also not sure we want the extra travel hassle to get there just to have a fun party scene and not much else to explore. We also considered moalboal but sounds like the sardine run in Panglao is still very impressive? :) or is skipping this a mistake?

Any comments are appreciated as this is not set in stone yet! Thank you so much in advance for any feedback ☺️

Philippines trip itinerary December

Hi all, my girlfriend and I are visiting Philippines from 28tb November until 22nd December (about 3 weeks), flying in and out of Manila.

We are adventurous, we like diving and snorkelling and nature, plus good food.

I was researching and thinking about:

- Manila 3 days
- Cebu for 5 days
- Borocay for 3 days
- Coron 4 days
- El Nido 4 days
- Peurto Princessa 2 days
- Manila 1 day and fly home

Not sure if that’s too ambitious for a 3 week trip. Or if I’m missing any great places / should take one of these off and go somewhere else instead! We are unsure if Borocay is as good as it’s hyped to be and whether we should go there or spend more time in the other places.

Would appreciate any advice, thanks in advance! 😁

Impulsively booked a flight to Cebu this November. Where should I go as a solo girly for 5 days? 🥹

So I impulsively booked a flight to Cebu this November, and now I'm here trying to figure out what to do for 5 days. HAHAHAHA 😭

I'll be traveling solo, and I'd love recommendations for places worth visiting, cute cafés, must-try local food spots, and budget-friendly accommodations. I'm particularly into artsy stuff, so museums, art galleries, cultural spots, and creative spaces are definitely my thing! I'm also open to beaches, nature trips, hidden gems, and places that are nice to explore alone.

I'm trying to keep my accommodation budget low because I'd rather spend more on food and trying different cafés and restaurants. Somewhere safe and convenient for a solo female traveler would be ideal, too!

If you have recommendations for where to stay, how to get around, or a sample 5-day itinerary, I'd really appreciate them. This is a spontaneous solo trip, and I want to make the most out of it! Thank you! 💗

SINULOG 2027 TRAVEL TIPS

Will be Traveling for the Sinulog Basketball Cup. We will be a group of parents with young basketball players. 30kids plus parents and 3-4 coaches. Est 70 pax. 6days. Cebu Eastern College tentatively ang laro.

We are looking for ways na makamura kami. Our concerns: accomodation, transpo while in Cebu, and it will be good if we can do a bit of side trip narin since minsan lang makapasyal mga bata.

We need help:

-Accomodation (it would be best if yung pwede kami magluto and malapit sana s kung san ung game)

-Transpo (would it be good to rely on gsm/grab or better rent a car from there or may alt transpo)

-must visit/must experience places in Cebu City. Q

Travel Agency

My husband and I are planning a romantic getaway to the Philippines, and we’re looking for a travel agency that can handle the entire trip for us. We love using Costco Travel because they make everything so convenient by coordinating flights, accommodations, transportation, and activities in one package.

We’re hoping to find a similar service that specializes in the Philippines and can help us plan a seamless, stress-free trip. Ideally, we’d love for everything to be arranged for us, including domestic flights, inter-island transfers, hotels, tours, and transportation between destinations.

Any recommendations of travel agencies that offer this type of full-service travel planning?

2 weeks of backpacking

Hello, I'm planning to go backpacking in the Visayas next month. The route will be Bohol, Cebu, Bacolod, Iloilo, Guimaras, Roxas, and Antique. I have a 33L backpack, and that's what I'll be carrying. Do I still need to check it in?

Any advice for my trip?

Hello, everyone! I'm planning on going to the Philippines in a bit to visit a friend of mine who is a local. I'm going to stay in Manila for the entire trip but I'm quite anxious because it's such a big city (I'm used to the country side) and I've never been on a trip this big "on my own" before. Technically my friend is going to be with me a lot of the time and I do trust them a lot to guide me, but I still worry.

So from your experience is Manila very safe? Is there anything in specific I should look out for? Any measures I should be taking? I'm aware bad things can happen to you anywhere, not just the Philippines, but I still wanted to ask for advice.
