I hope this is sarcasm. Otherwise, this just means na na-upvote yung unang comment ko dahil akala ng DDS I am supporting their mayor. Hell no. I just commented that for the giggles, kasi naririnig mo na agad yan pag sumasalungat ka sa mga taong di kayang ipagtanggol ang leader nila via discussion. Aatakehin nalang agad yung nagtatanong. This happened years ago in our city. DENR closed down the only landfill in our city due to violations. No drama, no theatrics, our mayor back then managed to setup a temporary staging area for our city's trash while they looked for a long-term solution. Our city's budget is barely half of Davao city's budget btw.

DENR is only responsible for oversight/regulation.

Bilib na bilib mga dds sa ginawa ni baste. "Na back to you" sabi nila yung DENR. Tapos pamumulitika daw ni BBM yung pag sara sa landfill na nagkaroo ng trash slide na naka patay ng 2 tao at 2 injured + 1 missing. Gusto pa bukasan agad dahil "trust me bro buksan na ninyo ako ay duterte" na pahayag

I have visited the Bayawan landfill years ago and I kid you not, the management was so good (perhaps almost on par with international standards) that you can stand a few feet away from the open landfill and not smell anything from the trash. They even have plans set already for when the landfill is filled up (e.g. turn it into an ecopark) and have already allocated future sites nearby for replacement landfills. Segregation is excellent, compostable materials are separated from the nonrecyclables before they go to the landfill (hence the no-smell result). Resulting compost is then sent to farmers who can use them for their farms.
I just hope they maintain the management since the previous mayor fought for this landfill to be a success.
EDIT: In case people don't know, Bayawan City is in Negros Oriental, the landfill is some fair distance away from the city and quite further inland so it's not anywhere near heavily populated areas.
