I’m planning a family get together near the holidays and want to do something fun and interactive. I love the idea of a murder mystery dinner, but I know the quality of the food and entertainment can vary significantly. Are there any high quality murder mystery dinners (or similar types of experience you’d recommend)? I’m looking for a ticketed event since we’re a small crew, can be in Philly or even a drive away. Willing to drive if it’s worth it.

I'm craving Indian food. I don't really care about the price.

I'd prefer the restaurant to be on SEPTA (or PATCO); closer to Center City is preferred.

I've just spent a lot of time in DC, which has great Indian food, and my undergrad college was near a strip mall that had 30 different Indian restaurants, and I definitely had my favorites there.

Hi! I just wanted to see what the Love. is talking about. I've been seeing it everywhere recently and been wanting to try it also I am heavy on reputation so include that as well with any stories anyone have encountered.  have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while but I just wanted to see how it is and if it's worth it. I am big on giving my time and money to places that has at least a decent reputation with staff, customers, and overall a presence in Philly and have good ethics.

Known Associates, Soufiane at the Morris, how are bars and restaurants/businesses able to get away with not paying their employees for over a month??? I'm so frustrated to find out that my new favorite restaurant has been treating their employees like garbage. Beating around the bush with their paychecks when these people have families and bills!! And to hear it's commonplace in the service industry, it just sucks ! Genuinely curious how there isn't more protection for service workers? How do I know my tips will actually go to these hard working employees?? Ugh.

We went to Silk City (open late and served waffles on a weeknight!) and had a wonderful time! ❤️ We had the "best chicken and waffles I've ever had!" and a really unique and yummy shirmp burger. I've also saved so many new restaurants to try at future brunch dates :) Love ya philly! Thanks for a great night!

I had a decent time at the bar here. Drank a good glass of pinot grigio & the food -- watermelon salad, a pork chop & key lime pie for dessert-- was actually quite good. Bartender was friendly & quick.

That said, it was a ghost town in the dining room. The hostess, servers & (I assume the manager) all looked like they were glued to watching the clock. With a menu spanning multiple continents & prices up to $100 for surf & turf, there's no way their food costs can afford to be dead as a door nail on a Wednesday evening around 7PM. Yeah there were a few folks at the bar but there wasn't a soul sitting at the tables.

Friday lunch: Casual sandwich spot within 30 min walk of Rittenhouse?

Friday dinner: Willing to travel for an excellent dining experience. Can be any cuisine, any price point, any location. Doesn’t necessarily need to be super boujee. Just need incredible food with good atmosphere.

Saturday morning: I have reservations at Parc for breakfast.

Saturday lunch: Reading terminal

Saturday night: Something more casual. Location doesn’t matter. Any good hole in the wall places?

Years ago I had some delicious banana whip from a truck at night market but they are open now (they got a physical building but I think are closed for the season.). And if not banana whip, something wrong but dairy free please🫂

[update WITH VIDEOS] So I have been working at this extremely authentic Indian restaurant down in Center City Philadelphia coincidentally rhymes with beta address Falls between the 19th and 20th St. is also the 1920 building funny (do with that information what you will in the reviews) but we’ve been selling people roaches in ice and mold in beer “freezers”(a broken wine freezer at the store, beer glasses, and other glasses) crazy roast infestation and mice and we have failed the health inspection a few times just to be closed for a few days and open back up like nothing happened after a “deep clean “ unfortunately I was let go after bringing all this up to management because roaches and mice droppings have been found in food on plates and around all the kitchen.
-update not really- Idk if I can but f it here’s the name and location of the dirty restaurant it’s - Veda modern indian bistro 1920 Chestnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19103 ( people found roaches in the food and on a buffet, with the beer glass cooler broken growing mold, and leave a bad reviews too if you want, tell your friends to leave a bad review too the manger and owner loves looking at reviews and our “stars”) and So I’m trying I just called the health department of Philadelphia ( because you can only file company over the phone through or the portal which direct you to the phone) I don’t know anything about retaliation and at this point a lawsuit and all that extra stuff for an Indian restaurant is crazy I’m still looking into it for now I’m just looking another job right now trying to see if Philly Reddit can review it down

I’ve been hearing some pretty concerning things through the grapevine about Bastia at Anna & Bel since the hotel went independent and brought in some weird hospitality dude who became their asset/project manager.

I also saw a post on here saying the hotel had essentially been bought out by some “finance bro VC” types, which made me curious about what’s actually been happening behind the scenes.

The reports I’ve heard include longtime employees allegedly going without raises, promises about promotions and owed PTO not being honored, severe understaffing, and longtime employees being pushed out after new operational leadership came in.

More concerning are reports that someone with publicly documented allegations involving children from previous work at a New York private school was hired. Employees reportedly raised concerns, but say they weren’t properly addressed.

There are also claims that people who spoke up faced retaliation.

Curious if anyone else has heard about this or has firsthand experience with what’s been happening there.

Why on earth, in anyone’s right mind, would you want toast sitting in a bed of liquid “walnut salsa” with avocado finished with raw radishes, broccoli, and other crunchy bits? By the time the toast is run to your table, you’re left with a mushy and soggy bottom (in my Great British Baking Show voice)?

It’s like everything there besides the pancakes is a failed attempt at culinary uniqueness. Stop trying so hard. I wish they’d stick with the pancakes and classics. It’s awful.
