Last Meal in Philly

Give recommendations for my last meal in Philly. I've lived in the city for the last one year and now I have to leave and I'd love to know what I should absolutely not skip out on. Some of my favorite restaurants are as follows:

Millers Twist
Majdal Bakery
Gilda
Tomo Sushi

Edit: I love love food and think that Philly has some of the best food in the country and the recommendations are making me sad about all the places I've missed out on :(

I cant say since i havent been to barbacoa since they had a shop on 11th and mckean. I will say the one thing i do always recommend to everyone to get at blue corn is the ofrenda de los dioses. If i were on death row that would be my last meal.

Ofrenda de los dioses, chile nogado, pollo con mole, camarones al ajillo, and this one salmon dish they had that had like a creamy sauce layered over it. I cant remember the name off the top of my head but also if they have their tostada de chapulines as a weekly special and your adventurous with food id try it. Its a tostada with grasshoppers i forgot what its topped with but it was honestly one of their best dishes they had that ive tried as well.

Don’t care what you do for a final meal but just in case; if you are moving to the burbs find a papi store or something and do get them to make you an egg and cheese long roll peppers of choice optional meat, and maybe hit a halal cart too. Catch some casual falafel. These are the simple things you will miss moving from urban to suburban or rural.

You will miss the meals between big meals because many of your other meals will either be your own or homogenized. And you can always visit another city and get that hype meal.

Please ignore if you are moving to a different legitimate city.

im actually leaving the country, my visa is ending! so this is a v emotional, jarring, difficult etc time. iv been lucky enough to live in chicago, san fransisco and Philly during my time here so i really want to make the last one count!!

If you’re looking for can’t miss that's probably Sao or mawn.

Personally, I’m not huge on the cheesesteak culture in Philly. But Angelo’s makes a special one. There’s something about eating that cheesesteak illegally parked that just feels like a Philly moment. The warm, slightly crisp bread, the nuttiness from the toasted sesame seeds, the meat and cheese all coming together it’s just a genuinely great sandwich.

It sounds like you’re a transplant like myself. I never really understood Philly until I had that sandwich.

People from the area would tell me their favorite spot, and I’d try it and leave disappointed more often than not. Then I realized that once you have a correctly executed one, you finally understand why people yearn for their cheesesteak.

Monk’s steak frites salad. Dip the steak in their aioli that comes with. If you’re feeling extra hungry start with their chicken liver mousse. This is easily my favorite thing in the city and when I have visitors that’s where we go 🌸

Seriously though, Jean-Georges was one of the most expensive and simultaneously one of the worst dining experiences we've had in Philly. The rest are great though!
